I would rather change the meme to:
“Yeah, with modern RAM settings, you don’t need Swap.”
OOM killer lurking behind.
It is simplistic but I think it was still in the sweet spot between simplicity and being a pick and play. It worked well for coop.

World News@lemmy.world•Former Syrian President Assad sentenced to death in absentia for war crimes
91·5 days agoLet them see a world grow isolated from their influence as they see whatever relevant to them wither and disappear until they are nothing but a footnote.
I would recommend you to talk with a hot plumber in your area, as they might tell you what’s causing the build-up.
Probably not helpful to you, but if someone has an issue with lime build-up:
but I live in a limestone-heavy place (also known as HARD water 🎸😎) and pipes are more choked than my heart arteries. That said, I tried many stuff (cleaning vinegar, cleaning vinegar + baking powder, specific products, etc.) and from all of them the best has been citric acid: There is a huge difference in quality between products, (not represented by price!) but by concentration, get the cleaning type not the food type.
What I do:
- Turn off the main and drain the lines. (Turn off all filtration stuff)
- Get a five-gallon mix in a bucket with warm or hot-ish water.
- Use a high-point access to let the solution in.
- Let it do its thing for a morning (e.g. 6 hours maybe but 4h also will do the trick).
- And then flush it, flush it GOOD.
For the hard stuff, there’s sulfamic acid, but so far I never needed it, and it is not so good for PVC or PEX. If someone is desperate and using PVC, muriatic acid can do wonders (and a lot of damage).

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Why people Pirate?
125·5 days agoThey call it stealing because the real legal term is unlawful copying or reproducing without copyright permits, and that sounds closer to a misdemeanor.
If we claim someone has stolen thousands of songs causing millions of dolars in damages it does look like a felony, and that is the way they’ve chosen to scare us.

7·6 days agoEasy Red II is both cheap, fun and easy to play.
Plus it has vehicles. What I mostly enjoy is that it takes me a couple of minutes to start playing and it delivers right away.
The cons are mostly the AI is outdated-ish. There’s a mod that improves it though and the devs are constantly adding new stuff.
Can’t say about this one but Omarchy is also, technically speaking, a terrible distribution.

0·12 days agoWhat are you yapping about? The 1% refers to the low end of framerates, usually when games have lag spikes. This approach makes those spikes less noticeable because the APU power management doesn’t get in the way.

That might work until they realize people are doing it and then just add the right circumventions. After all I can test my exploit and see if Claude or Gemini can find it, and polish it until they don’t.
