News@lemmy.world•California voters will consider a measure in November to raise taxes on billionaires
14·2 hours agoConsider? Is anyone, other than billionaires, really on the fence about this issue?

Technology@lemmy.world•Micron locks in historically high memory prices for five yearsEnglish
17·2 hours ago“Locks in”…if all of a sudden there was no demand you can be assured they would “lock out”. Micron likes to put the boot to the throat when they have an advantage. Not someone I’d do business with.

Technology@lemmy.world•Older tech workers are tapping out, taking early retirementEnglish
1·2 hours agoI think the truth is more like “Older tech workers can no longer compete in an ageist world where youth and shininess rule”.

politics @lemmy.world•House Democrats’ anxiety rises after wins by Mamdani-backed candidates: ‘Are we going to let them take over the party?’
31·2 hours agoI think the younger folk taking over the democratic party is a good idea. We all turn more conservative when we get older (especially if we now have more “money” to protect) and the democratic party skews on “dotard”. Just to be clear though, fuck trump.
I avoid the chopstick places because I could never master them and I was tired of feeling like an ignorant buffoon. The surprise was, after more than 5 years of avoiding the chopstick places, I still felt like an ignorant buffoon.
I like how the two guys in the background are kind of blurry.

Technology@lemmy.world•75% More Pedestrians Have Been Killed Since 2009. Giant Trucks and SUVs Are WhyEnglish
3·2 hours ago800ish more fancy tech “safety” features and even more death. Fuck the “we will protect you” bullshit. It’s way cheaper if I protect myself, but that option doesn’t exist. “Look! My car flashes and beeps when another car passes me on a city lane!”. That’s not assistance, that’s a distraction.

To me it’s the “replacing people” part of it all, with no plan on what to do with the “replaced”. That shit should exist for the people and the world to move forward in a progressive way. What we have today is just desperate attempts to build power and cash for an entity, nothing more.
