The problem is I don’t have an old phone. But yeah I eventually figured that out for a game that I couldn’t find online. So what I did was created an emulator on my computer with an old version of Android and logged into my account on that.
Fuck google. I just want to be able to play minit on my phone, but no, Google says it’s not good enough for me because they haven’t updated the app in a while. You know, like most games. Of course they haven’t updated the app, the game is finished, they’ve moved on from it.
Maybe the whole abandonware thing applies to regular apps, but in my experience most games without microtransactions get updated for a bit when they’re released and then never again. Because there’s no reason to update your game once you’ve fixed all the bugs, unless you’re not adding new content.
I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve thought about a game that I used to like and looking for it on the Play Store, only to find out it’s been taken down and I have to go for an hour long search through sketchy sites to find it. It’s fine if you only play new games, but from my experience, the majority of old games are just not available, unless they’re made by a studio that’s still big enough to keep up with the requirements. For no good reason.
I would fully understand having a warning for old apps. They could even hide them from recommendations. But if I want to install an “abandoned” app, I should be able to.
Right, so Ubuntu
Nah I’m pretty sure it’s still lemmy. This page seems to say they are looking at moving to something else, but they’re still using lemmy for now https://docs.beehaw.org/docs/important-questions-decisions-and-reflections/beehaw-lemmy-and-a-vision-of-the-fediverse/
I don’t think that’s true
Well then obviously if you use libraries, your code is too complicated
I don’t think they actually block malicious bots, the change they’ve made is just to the robots.txt, they don’t have to do anything.
To further explain, the joke is that “tomo tawa” could mean either “car” or “moving house”
This change impacts every mobile user, not just iPhone users. iPhones are a good portion of the userbase of most apps/websites. For PWAs to gain mass adoption, it needs to be available for the majority of users. This change means that will not be the case in the EU.
PWAs have just been doomed by Apple, and unless Apple reverts this change, they will now never be successful in the EU. And probably not even outside of the EU since non-european products still have european users.
Also what does she hope to accomplish? Even if it is just a phase, why would that change anything?
No, cause Wikimedia wouldn’t let him buy it in a million years
Oh I hate communities that use Telegram. I mean, sure, I guess there’s better privacy, but Telegram was just not built for that. Messages always get lost, and there are no channels, which means no info channel, so they have to try and cram everything into the description.
Don’t get me wrong, I wish that we could use a FOSS platform instead of Discord, but 1: people are already using Discord and it’s hard to get everyone to switch platform, and 2: there is no comparable alternative right now
I’m going to skip the sponsor anyway, SponsorBlock just makes it way easier. I don’t have it on auto skip though, because 1: Sometimes they mark segments as sponsored that still have interesting stuff, and sometimes they do good sponsor segments, and 2: Maybe sometimes I’ll be willing to watch it. For example, I always watch the end segment of Jet Lag.
So it ends up being not very different from skipping the sponsor. And besides, I never bought/used anything from a sponsor segment before SponsorBlock.
as practiced
People who agree with communism “as practiced” are usually ridiculed by others on lemmy, from what I’ve seen.
It’s very good. I wish there was a way to sync podcasts without hosting a gpodder server. There is supposed ot be a free site, but it doesn’t seem to work anymore.
Still not worth paying the insanely expensive subscription to sync on pocket casts though. I might try to selfhost gpodder soon, I just need to fix my internet so I can port forward.
Imgur and Tumblr too
I did just that when I first switched to Linux, I installed KDE Neon on Linux Mint. And it broke everything. And when I went to forums to ask for help everyone yelled at me. So maybe don’t recommend installing KDE on Linux Mint.
