Discovery should not be a function of the Fediverse itself. It should be a tool, app, or otherwise layer on top of a baseline. Discovery is an opinionated service offering—if it’s baked in, it’s not a good thing IMO.

Typically I agree but I believe this was repeat allegations from multiple parties. If it was only one person and it was dropped, maybe he deserves the benefit of the doubt. But fool me twice, shame on me.
That part is less about the justice system and more a likely triangulation of him probably being not so great, at best. Plenty of people got charges dropped or “redeemed” on a technicality who are definitely guilty.
Unfortunately, that dude was relatively recently charged with SA allegations / rape.
His wife also accused him of beating her.
I believe charges were dropped but it definitely cast a shadow over his public good guy persona.
Top 10 lemmy comment IMO.
DOTA splits the difference but it’ll take you 3000-5000 hours to be truly competitive. And everyone wants to be competitive.
When I played DotA 2, a dude who was good also was trying to get me and everyone regular with us into POE.
I took one look at the average hours played on Steam reviews and noped out of there. Also quit DOTA like a week later.
Because it’s literally advertising spam. I can’t believe this person would want to ruin the entire good will of Lemmy by pushing their trash.
It simply serves no purpose.
Do you mean admins? Where did they say that?
How massively disappointing if so.
KAPLAH
I did Jellyfin right when I got into this as soon as I saw Plex require an external account.
Worse, it’s a deep fried repost.
Yeah this is what people not here don’t understand.
I lived in Los Angeles for ten years and moved to OKC.
There are more dispensaries in OKC alone then I saw in all of SoCal, it’s that dense. And now the mushroom lobbying is going in full force. Alcohol laws went from strict like Utah to very liberal in the span of a decade. It’s about 5 years away from being less than 50% white people as a population. Even the abortion ban drama was short-lived–Oklahoma’s state supreme court struck down all the anti-abortion legislation less than a year after Stitt signed it. They jacked around and brought back an older law, but it will eventually get reviewed again, most likely. More than half the state is in favor of legal abortion, which will eventually be reflected.
The fastest growing counties, which also have the largest and densest populations, all voted handily Blue the last election: 55-42, 52-45, and 49-48. I don’t think that trend will see a sudden reversal.
Eh, it’s the largest weed producing state in the country and also is likely to be one of the early mushroom states. Stitt in all his idiocy just sanctioned a massive market where psilocybin spore kits were sold by the pallet load.
There is a lot more shadow wealth here that will make aggressive “progressive” choices because it’s profitable. The same is not true in any of the Deep South. The last time I was in Oxford, Mississippi, Uber was outlawed and there was 11:30pm legally enforced last call.
OKC growth rate is very high; it is the place that will tip the scale ultimately.
I don’t think he’ll be re-elected. It was a fake win since he was replacing a more legitimate (albeit still not good republican) long standing senator in a special case.
He’s objectively the worst person in the Senate. He owned a business here that was successful and had a much better reputation but has now revealed himself as a stain.
I think Oklahoma may actually swing slightly D soon-ish. We had a D governor not long ago who was well liked. Joy got 42% of the vote in 2022.
Meta comment, but I often click politics or other links from the local feed, and like 90% of articles are paywalled. These communities are useless with the volume of paywalled material.
Jellyfin is on the LG OS store, so if your home theater has an LG TV, it’s phenomenal. I can’t recommend getting the high end LG TVs enough if you’re self hosting. Between Swiftfin on an iPad if you’re quietly in bed, or LG in the home theater, they’re all native platform apps and slay. No need from browser otherwise.
Now this is piracy.
I personally split the difference now. I think if the hive mind was completely rational, liberty/ancap must work in principle.
But propaganda, and moreover just how much violence people are raised with even still on average in western households, let alone the insane variance in parenting quality from China to the hyper religious Middle East to the current lead-filled (or micro plastic filled?) brains of Trumpers to the insane gang violence of Mexico and South America to the total rape of the continent of Africa… prohibits there from being any volume of rationality required to make it possible for at least another 200 years.
…except before 200 years we will have needed to solve for all of our global crises anyway to avoid extinction (at least there is a non negligible chance)—and thus some mix of socialism via the state, and the “market” AKA Earth dying, with the occasional bout of rational zeitgeist, is the only way to save Earth and explore the stars.
