I dislike swap solely because it gets used and when I accidentally open the same file twice then I regularly encounter problems with swap files when opening the file again later.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do people even mean by "If you don't use AI, you'll fall behind"?
3·8 days agoI hate AI, but still use it from time to time when 3+ searches would yield no result, or I am already quite adapt to a topic and just want some stupid research work done by a web scraper tool, or when searching on brave search and I just search for a command in bash or something like that on a topic where I don’t currently want to learn (maybe because of a deadline). I am inpatient at the moment, pressed for time and still want to try new things. It’s a faster search engine for me right now because search engines and wesites became infested with SEO, bots and AI slop, at least I get to control the answers a bit better

Ironically I switched off of ddg to brave search because I wanted to block more than 5 AI embracing websites. I haven’t yet tested it thoroughly yet because AI overviews were quite helpful the last month for syntax questions and that were all my searches, but now I want (and am able) to test brave search without AI and with weights to curate my search.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is the US currently obsessed with protein?
1·18 days agoBut what is the context? Are they 15-30% up on calories because of their intake, do they just eat too much? What about other countries, what about a normal diet, what is a normal diet?

My hands would always be covered in ink because i was fidgeting with my pen, most of the time pressing the mine into my skin. I wouldn’t even realise it, I always just wondered when I’d paint my hands haha
I stopped bouncing my leg and started swinging, i stopped swinging and started doodling, i stopped doodling and started fidgeting with a pen. I stopped because I found those things annoying myself lol

I’d say seperate places them by topic. All my study related things are in one app on my laptop, organization stuff in my phone calender. It helps so that I don’t grow tired of one system / the system doesn’t feel too cluttered, so it won’t fade into background noise. Everything has an alarm? Snooze 'em all! Write everything into that one app? Ain’t finding shit again and too tired to write everything in there, too much effort. The last thing for chores and workout is: make a habit out of it, maybe set a daily alarm if it helps you and do it, just starting is fine at the beginning, but make it a habit
I use nvim/ vim just because i was new and didn’t know anything I could edit on an ssh connection with beside vim. And it isn’t that hard, using lazyvim atm (still new and dont have time to configure myself) and if I can just use the mouse if I am too stupid, not that hard. But it get more and more convenient as time goes on. You encounter enough times and just think to yourself “is there a better way?” and most of the time there is! Just start with “i”, “<Esc>” and “:wq”.

101·1 month agoNot really a mobile gamer and i either solve riddles on websites or puzzles like sudoku. And I only use open source. I think mindustry and unciv are too complex for a phone game, I like feudal tactics, but it gets stale after some time
