Hotter take - Diet soda is even more of a luxury because it has practically zero nutritional value. There are some people who benefit from the sugar in soda as it’s calories that sustain life. Of course that’s not most people.

The cost of my CO2 cylinders for my fish tank haven’t gone up nearly as much as sodas and seltzer.

Hot take - soda is priced correctly in 2026. It’s a luxury and is quite bad for your health.

• 1.5c oats
• 0.5c flour
• 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
• 0.5+ teaspoon ground cinnamon (more is better IMO)
• 0.5c peanut butter
• 0.5c room temp butter (or gently melted)
• 0.33c white sugar
• 0.5c brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix wets and dry separately, combine. Bake in puck-shapes at 350f for 12-15 minutes

I like to use light brown sugar instead of white+brown. I’ve been reducing the sugar, but I can’t remember what I landed on. Many people liked it with semisweet chocolate chips.

Good oatmeal is better than regular chocolate chip, IMO. But I have a cinnamon peanut butter and oatmeal cookie recipe I think is the absolute best. Friends like it with chocolate chips

I trick my wife into feeling like she has 50% more weekend by tidying the house while she sleeps in, all going grocery shopping before it gets hot, then coming home and relaxing on Saturday. Then Sunday is free for anything. Usually by Sunday afternoon she wants to go do fun stuff this way

When I was a kid at some church event at a local kids camp I noticed a kid that jumped from the (very low) diving board wasn’t coming up. I had no idea what drowning actually liked like. I yelled to the lifeguard but jumped in anyway. The lifeguard saved the kid before I got over, but a chaperone noticed and sent a letter home to my parents saying they should be proud.
