Awesome! That’s exactly how i got started on my serious grilling/smoking path some 15 years ago. A free roadside offset smoker that just need a little attention….keep it up and enjoy the rewards!

Yup, I recognized this space immediately- Frankfurt Airport…been this way for a few years now. Oddly empty and quiet every time I’m there despite how busy and chaotic the main areas are. The bathrooms there are nice…also empty and quiet!

Not to scare you here, but just being real. There’s so many new people in the hobby these days with printer prices getting so low, and so many get easily frustrated so easily and just blame the machine without learning the hobby….

This hobby takes a LOT of patience. Things are going to go wrong, prints are going to fail. You will have to try over and over again with different methods and tweaks. (Not 100% of the time, ofc, but it’ll happen!) While specific printers will have their quirks, most print issues are not printer specific, so any guide to “fixing your prints” will be a good starting point. The most common reply you’ll see to an issue is “user error”- which usually is the case involving any of your settings, filament quality/condition, and/or the condition of your print bed. Keep the bed clean! Dish soap and water is the best thing. A lot of people praise Iso. Alcohol, but that doesn’t always work, and in some cases actually ruins bed surfaces.

Calibrate your filaments and keep them dry. There is no “best settings for X”- they will be a good starting point, some might actually work for you without tweaks, but there is literally thousands of combinations of print material, printers and print environments…so, what works amazing for you might just be a pile of spaghetti for me! Learn the slicer software- they are super powerful now. All the settings can be overwhelming, but you’ll get there in time! Printer mfgs love to brag about print speeds, but fast almost never equals clean. In most cases just slowing down your print speeds can significantly clean things up, or even prevent failure.

If you are pulling .3mf files from any of the sites, be aware that they will have the creator’s full print settings in the file when you load it in the slicer, a lot of which probably wont work for you or might even throw errors in your slicer (bambu labs files are bad about this in non-bambu slicers)- so you’ll need to go through and check everything that changed. Some might be on purpose because of the design (top/bottom layer patterns, fuzzy skin, painted supports, etc)

This hobby is super rewarding and it’s really fun to watch things come to life, but you gotta have the patience to work and grow with a very complex machine!

Labeling that says “Made with xxxxx” for example “Made with 100% all white chicken!” ‘WITH’ is the key word here. The item might be only 3% chicken and 97% other junk, but that 3% of chicken is 100% all white! This isnt just food items, could be cleaning supplies, or a lot of other things too. ‘Made of xxxx’ could be better, or ‘Made 100% with/of’….

Yup. American living in Germany for 2.5 years now, been traveling all over EU and UK…the world is a huge place and there’s a LOT of people. Most of them never think about the states and will never have any reason to. Germany may not be my favorite place, especially since i really struggle with the language so i know i dont fully understand a lot of things here. But the EU in general has a lot of things going way better.

With that said…everywhere always has its own issues as well. The grass isn’t always completely greener, if you will.

Fair enough! I grew up on the gulf coast and have traveled all over the deep south, have family from northern Louisiana, and my parents lived in Baton Rouge for a while- so i wasnt trying to “assume” for you! A1 (for me) is just one of those things that seemed so common i stopped seeing it and never needed to look for it! Like I said, you aint missing much, so im glad you aren’t familiar with it cause there are waaay better options where you’re at!!

Odd you havent seen it being from the south…but that’s probably for the better! It’s Steak Sauce. Meant to be put on steaks…it’s in all major grocery chains and usually on the tables at most restaurants serving any sort of a steak menu. Bottle is shaped like a Worcestershire bottle, but has a white label with a big A1 on it. I never cared for it so at this point couldn’t even tell you what it tastes like. If a steak needs a sauce, then it’s not a good steak.

With that said, i’ve seen it used as a marinade ingredient, or more complex sauce ingredient- so it’ll still have its uses.

If by Ice Miners you mean Ice Planet 2002? Then yes, i am 100% with you. My brother was collecting all the Blacktron and I was everything Ice Planet. Loved that white/blue/neon orange look! I still have almost all the sets, with boxes and instructions stored away at my parent’s. All except the damned Deep Freeze Defender ship…i never was able to get that one cause it was so expensive. - i do have the whole Ice Station base, tho, ha. Not sure what happened to my brother’s collection- it could be back home as well!
