Well, in reality its only a step back into the 80s when the Bundeswehr was quiet well armed, and one shouldn’t forget that the conscription was only put on hold in 2010 and never really abolished.

Honestly, I think this is a good thing. I am old enough to have witnessed the last time we Europeans were pissed at the US during the time of George W. Bush. Back then I hoped the EU would break free from their dependency of the US… perhaps this time it finally happens.
Well… if you as a nation wouldn’t have this big military of yours and the ability to kill 90% of all life on earth, and IF you would stick to your home turf to fight out this rough shit… well THEN it would be much more easy to ignore you.
Right… BUT it was perfectly readable in bright daylight!
I mean… yeah, having all the electronic gadgets that spy on you and let you read the post of the worlds united village yokels is great, but, just as a thought… why do i need to recharge my phone at least once a day when the Atari Portfolio (which was / is a nearly full IBM PC compatible computer) that was build in '89 did last about A MONTH on 3 AA batteries that i could buy nearly everywhere in the world?
Imagine a world where not every consumer electronic is controled by layers upon layers upon layers of cruft running on an operating system that in its core still thinks it is powering an PDP11 and talking to a bunch of teletypes…
Is this the appropriate point to reference the suckless community? I mean, that’s THE point of the movement…
Well, you would be surprised how much really good software from back in the day (especially games) can run on quiet modern hardware. I have an old Thinkpad with a Core2Duo running FreeDOS that I mostly use for gaming and most of the DOS titles of the late 80s to mid 90 are running quiet well.
I don’t think that this is a good idea… after the LHC was activated in 2008 we somehow broke the universe and ended up in THIS timeline, i don’t want to think about the possibilities if they activate an even bigger particle collider!
