Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•No. I'm undercover as a private investigator
3·5 days agoYup! I intentionally go shopping looking like absolute trash, because almost every time I go shopping, someone assumes I work there, and I’m way too nice and often end up helping them anyway.
I’ll wear sweats, an oversized hoodie, a backwards baseball cap, and earbuds, someone will still stop me and ask me a question obviously meant for a store employee.
As a butch myself, this made me laugh so hard
I deleted my Meta accounts when Zuck became openly sycophantic towards Trump.
If my friends want to talk to me, they text me. Some even got Signal because I told them it was my preferred messaging app.
If they want to send a social media post/reel to me, they can text me with the link to it and I can view it in browser.
You can’t force your friends to care about surveillance, but you can choose to do what you believe is right, and your real friends will accommodate you, even if they don’t understand.

10·8 days agohe has publicly apologized
He said he was sorry for “causing pain”, he didn’t apologize for making the donation or for being against same-sex marriage.
and that he has not done anything besides that one instance
He has also not donated to pro-LGBTQ+ causes or expressed support for same-sex marriage since then either.
do you really think he fits the definition of being “Openly anti LGBT+”?
Yes.

While the Thanos bit might be artistic hyperbole, picking the Joker as a role model is more common irl than it should be, and is a legitimate red flag, considering that Joker stans tend to romanticize his relationship with Harley Quinn, which is very much an abusive, manipulative one.
When looking for a mature, emotional healthy & safe partner, Joker fans should be avoided at a costs.

30·14 days agoWhile I think studies like this are bunk, I think it’s a mistake to assume that there is no real effect on cognitive health.
We know that using LLMs is addictive. I can’t imagine that long term use is going to be as benign as long term use of a calculator.

2·15 days agoAlmost everyone in the family and community in which I was raised believes that human-caused climate change is not real. They believe that all climate change is a wholly unavoidable phenomenon that is just part of the earth’s natural cycle.
You can imply that no one has actually been fooled by the oil industry’s propaganda all you want, but it’s both incorrect & unproductive to do so.

I know, I can see which instance you’re on. My original comment applies to you just as much as it does to any American.
Regardless, I am still definitely making way more of an effort to stop fascism than the average American.
You don’t know that, and we have no reason to believe you, but keep patting yourself on the back while vomiting your unregulated anxiety & despair at strangers on the internet, ig

4·16 days agoThe only hope left is that there are some true Americans left in the military that are able to work together.
This is not the only hope left, this is just one of the more ideal solutions.
Hopes not high for that either, as it would have happened by now. It’s never going to happen from the general public. Sorry to burst your bubble.
I really need people who say doomer shit like this to:
-
Reflect on whether their words encourage solution-oriented thinking, or unproductive doom spirals
-
Learn some emotional regulation

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something you've done that improved your quality of life?
6·16 days agoHere’s an article about the basics of minimalist footwear (also known as “barefoot shoes”, but that confuses people because they think it exclusively refers to those running shoes in the shape of bare feet).
If you need any specific recommendations, I’m happy to help! Unfortunately a lot of minimalist shoes are expensive, but they’ve been such a game changer that they feel like a necessity at this point.
When you discuss you and me that makes it obviously personal, so I’m not sure why the irony escapes you.
Yes, discussing my personal thoughts and feelings is personal, and criticizing your words is also personal, I agree. But I used the word “personal” to describe being offended. I was not offended, as the initial comment to which I was responding was a broad comment about the U.S. I have no reason to take offense at that.
when I clearly said voting and protesting would be the solution in a civilised society.
You did not say this in your initial comment, you said it in your response to my comment. My original criticism of your original comment stands. You did not speak of any solution until I criticized you for not being solution-oriented in your comment.

Finally, a seasonal beverage I can actually enjoy
