  • If Mamdani loses the general that should be a wake up call to Americans that even the illusion of their democracy is dead. The man behind the curtain isn’t even hiding anymore.

Meaning, if Mamdani loses it is only because the full forces of the capitalist class from both of their parties were able win.

You seem to think that there is some major difference between New York and some southern town in Georgia for example. And to many degrees there are. But it’s not because the people have fundamentally different wants and goals. The people throughout this country want a good job, a place to live, healthcare, and an end to wars of the empire. The major difference between them is how their concent is manufactured.

The difference isn’t in policy or even in politics. The difference is in the ability to break through the existing lies they are distracted by. Racism, xenophobia, queerphobia, etc.

Most working class people in America will be open to progressive policies when they see them actually implemented successfully in major blue cities.

I’m not saying to run as a socialist in Savannah, GA. I’m saying that we do not give away ground. We continue to push for further leftists politicians like Mamdani where we can win. And that will literally shift the entire nations politics.

These are the only wins we can hope for in electoral politics right now. Because by the time we’re voting for another president it’s going to be to late. The fascist state will have been fully established.

  • Yeah. We should keep running more milk toast politicians with vague policies like “affordability” or “abundance” (I think that’s their new term for more neoliberalism now) that’ll show em!

Dude, free busses, rent control, and public grocery stores are not some “far left” policy. They are standard in much of the world.

The Democratic party is the failure that it is today BECAUSE they tried to convince you that democratic socialist policies would not win. They do. Fucking Kentucky has a publicity owned and operated Internet provider. There is nothing radical or far left about Mamdani’s policy plans.

I’ve heard people had luck with Tailscale playing nicely with non Plex options. I can’t say I’ve tried it. Though I do use Tailscale. Essentially if you setup Tailscale for Grandma it’ll be like she’s sitting on your local network. Even better, set it up on her router and you can literally debug all her Internet problems if you can ping it.

Beyond that a raspberry pi with a battery backup on a 4G subscription connected to the router. That would be the ultimate “grandma” setup. Connect her router/modem power to remote power cycle. But I digress.

For some reason I get permission errors on jellyfin every time I use it. Never with Plex. I’ve gone through the steps to fix it before. But when you change your shit as much as I do. I just stay with Plex because it’s plug and play. And I have the pass. I don’t have the time to fuck with stupid shit with jellyfin.

  • Not sure about the title of this post. But I just really wish more Democrat voters would come to the realization that a lot of people didn’t vote for Trump because they liked him. They voted for him because of how absolutely ineffective the Democratic party has been.

Zohran should really be a reality check for people. The people that voted for him were not politics Andy’s like you and I. They voted for him because he had a clear message “free busses and rent freeze” is his “build the wall”.

People are looking for real promises. The biggest difference is that a rent freeze and better public transit actually will improve their lives.

If you don’t offer real improvements the masses will go for the guy with the xenophobic policy. A policy that promises to hurt “people not like me” and maybe then that will make my life better.

    That’s the reasoning. Simple as.

It’s not because the masses love racism or rapists. It’s because they are so desperate for a politician that will actually represent working class interest that the first idiot billionaire with charisma was a “why not” in 2016.

In 2024 it was a complete lack of the Democratic party to capitalize on that. There are people in America thirsting for the “change” that Obama promised. They just got wise. They realized that if it’s called “change” or “abundance” it’s the same stupid shit that maintains the interest of the rich.

They want simple promises of actual material improvement that a politician can be judged on. And Zohran will be. But he’s brave enough to actually take a stand.

Edit: seriously, please don’t fall for the same neoliberalism packaged as “abundance” this time.
