Please tell me about your experience with Teracube.
Just read most of the comments here and I feel nauseous about this.
My job encourages instagram use.
I think the only way around having our devices spy on our spoken face to face conversations is to have a mobile device with a removable battery. Who remembers the HTC EVO and all the phones like those? Anyone know of a good phone that offers the removable battery?
Love Bernie!!!
How safe is this to use? What precautions do you recommend to protect oneself from discovery or prosecution?
Merry Christmas!!
It’s all disgusting out there.
My wife and I kicked all fast food 2010.
We use a crock pot for beans. Buy tortillas etc. We can beat Taco Bell burritos with zero worry about disease.
We transmuted our disgust for corporate hegemony into carefully crafted campaign designed to rise above it as much as possible.
And we’re not saints. Still using abuser Amazon because fuck. But we try and I ride right in by fast food faces feeling so good not to give them an effing dime.
Green flags:
Their smile.
Their obvious kindness.
Their big heart.
They make you laugh.
They drive.
They ask you to drive.
They have friends that you like.
Your friends like them.
They read novels.
The play a musical instrument.
They speak another language.
They can ride a bike faster than you can and you think you’re kind of hot shot about that.
They openly tell you that some of your habits are unsavory. You know they are. How courageous of them to mention it.
They like you anyway.
They can make chocolate chip cookies from memory and do like for no reason.
You like their family.
They don’t like your family but then again neither do you.
34 years later the two of you not only love one another but find things to like about one another every single day.
Best post of the day!!!
Not sure this reply will get seen by the kind people who have helped explain this situation to me but I just want to say “thank you”. And I get it. The ethos here is the diversity and the federation — Reddit subs were easily corrupted by power hungry turds… anyway… there were a lot of thoughtful replies and I appreciate all that.
I still feel new here but I’m pleased to be welcomed by a lot of very thoughtful and patient people.
You get me. Yes — exactly.
I can barely figure all this out and my goal is exactly where you are talking about — to make adopting Lemmy as easy as possible to attract as many users away from the corporate social media as possible.
I want all corporate social media flat lined.
I suppose that I can personally tolerate same-theme communities across multiple instances. I feel like I was a late arrival at Reddit and when I grasped it’s potential, it became an important source of information, entertainment and community for me. Then it imploded.
But a lot of people are still over there and I guess I hope to see it flatlined completely.
So I hope that Lemmy can be as easy to use as possible.
But this thread has persuaded me that redundant groups are healthy. I just hope new users come here and abandon all corporate social media.
I’m more at risk for being construed as saying: patting ourselves on the back for being offended by a pig toy is ridiculously self serving.
Perhaps I didn’t understand your point about slavers? What did you mean?
This ad was produced decades after the abolition of slavery. Yes, things were even worse during slavery. And slavers were not average people; they were scum then and now.
This was culture. Just because we have managed to slightly altar a few cultural norms over a hundred plus years hardly makes us better people.
In fact…
Majority of these people lived without electricity, phone, or private vehicle.
Huge percentage of these people still did not have indoor plumbing.
Many had never had a hot shower.
Hygiene norms for the majority were a once a week bath of that.
Impoverished children were born to parents that sent them to work as early as four years old.
They were beaten with heavy blunt objects if they objected to anything.
Many watched their mother’s murdered by drunken fathers who received zero consequences for the murder and would not receive consequences for the suspicious death of a child either.
These children went to work the next day.
I’m no expert on this but I look at the faces of the children in the forced child labor pics and I can see that they are dead inside.
My heart goes out to the people who built this country. Millions were once enlaved. Millions more lived in a harsh universe where death of loved ones was common place and ailments we now think nothing of were deadly.
These were hardy people doing the best they could in a world that would astonish us if we were teleported through time on a one way ticket. That their sense of humor trended dark makes sense to me. I’m glad that found anything funny at all.
