  • I have felt the same for a while. I have had to heavily rethink my relationship with standup comedy, because I think it can be such a powerful medium, but as I’ve gotten older, I recognize that comedy can reflect much of the bigotry and hatreds of their time.

It’s obviously more nuanced than that, as comedy can also reflect joys, insights, and the general societal consciousness of the time.

With that said there are still a few stand up comedy that I can say I don’t feel bad laughing at these days. So here’s a short list that if you’re so inclined, I’d take a look at:

    • Tig Notaro
    • Benny Feldman
    • Noam Shuster
    • Hannah Gadsby
    • Maria Bamford

I’d elaborate on each of them a bit, but I’d rather simply let their comedy speak for themselves.

    EDIT: typo, wording

  • Look, I’m just gonna say it. Fuck Gavin Newsom! If Gavin wants my vote he’ll have to disavow his meeting of the minds with Charlie Kirk as him meeting with a fucking fascist. He’d have to abandon his support of silicon valley oligarchs outright and vow to tax them into nonexistence. He’d have to make homelessness legal in California and set up housing for the unhoused with clear social safety nets designed to uplift them financially and socially. And he’d have to defend Trans people’s rights to play in sports as the gender they identify as.

But we all know Gavin is just more of the same Democratic bullshit with slightly more combative language. I suspect he’d make as bad a President as Kamala would have been, or worse. If there is a presidential election next cycle, it’ll likely come down to Newsom vs a Charlie Kirk wannabe or some Nick Fuentes Groyper.

Don’t let that happen, don’t compromise your ideals. Call out everything wrong with every Democratic candidate, so vehemently it’ll make any centrist’s ears bleed. If a candidate accepted campaign contributions from anyone other than small donors, fuck em. You aren’t their constituency if they do.

Lean so far left the whole country tips over.

  • Chicken Soup from scratch imho.

First make stock. Roasted chicken bones and spine are thrown in with a pound of chicken feet (adds collagen, stock is richer tasting). Carrot tops, parsley, bay leaf, and a tablespoon of vinegar thrown in. As much water is added as needed to submerge chicken, make absolutely sure not to overfill pressure cooker/pot. Stock is made in pressure cooker (fast) or large pot (slow), then strained.

Then soup. Add whole deboned chicken (previously roasted tastes better), carrots, Yukon potatoes (I like purple ones for cyanocobalamin), garlic, onions, thyme, sage, rosemary, kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Optional to add a freshly beaten egg per serving (just pour slowly into soup to prevent clumping). Simmer for a few hours or just pressure cooked again.

Serve over quinoa with freshly chopped cilantro and green onions on top. Add more salt/pepper to taste.

  • Even on GrapheneOS, sure it uses a sandboxed Google Play Store, which is obviously great for users, but the developers of Android apps still have to hand over their personal data to Google specifically as this new decree from the Lords of the Google fiefdom entails.

Because FOSS developers rightly value their personal privacy, this decree effectively kills incentive for FOSS developers to continue making and maintaining apps for Android. Running GrapheneOS doesn’t circumvent this.

It’s like I’m saying “I’m hungry” and you say “Go for a run, it’s healthy for you.” I mean… it’s true that running is healthy… but the act of running doesn’t solve the problem of me being hungry…

  • And what do you want to bet all the jobs just magically come back once it all “naturally” stops working and we “rightfully” return to monarchy?

This is by fucking design. Everything you see around you is because a few fucking piece of shit elites decided democracy was in the way of more profits.

The best thing any of us can do is to call this bullshit out IRL and to not comply when they tell us to lay down so they can more easily put their boots on our necks.

Even though this shit was apparent from day fucking 1, at least the Tech Billionaires were able to cause mass layoffs, destroy an entire generation of new programmers’ careers, introduce an endless amount of tech debt and security vulnerabilities, all while grifting investors/businesses and making billions off of all of it.

Sad excuses for sacks of shit, all of them.

  • I have a weird take whenever stuff like this comes up but its in my humble opinion that world governments shouldn’t rely on corporate developed software or even maybe hardware.

This is definitely hindsight is always 20/20 sort of thinking but governments should have long ago realized that trusting the likes of Intel, Microsoft, Oracle, etc. would leave them reliant on their innovations and also subject to their whims, mistakes, and more.

Basically I’m saying World governments all need their own internal OS developed and maintained internally by an official subdivision of said governments, and maybe even a separate branch developing internally utilized hardware.

Never gonna happen, and I’m sure there are issues with this solution, but its a hypothetical I think about whenever something tech related and the government comes up in the news, which is pretty much every day now.

  • Yes, also fair enough. Alpine as well.

So let’s see. This adds us up to:

Arch, Debian, Alpine, Slackware, Opensuse, Gentoo, Void, Fedora/Redhat, Nix.

And yeah I’ve used docker with Alpine before. I think i used ot as a base to setup redis, postgresql, and some other service a while back. I’m not hating on any distro, just very forgetful of even what I read 15 sec ago.
