Whats the best way to take action for me as a single user? What kind of posts should I focus on making? Ive heard of fetching reddit posts, maybe I could do that if theres like an easy process to do so, I’d happily feed some communities I like with posts from the silicon valley mafia platform to this platform!

Also whats the name of this platform? I registered under feddit org, is the umbrella term called fediverse? Accroding to wiki then this(fediverse) should be linked to platforms like pixelfed and mastadon too, is it? How do I see content from them or in what way are these platforms interlinked with this reddit styled one?

More stuff that isn’t memes, news and politics. Like, apparently there’s two people on this whole platform watching Harley Quinn (or at least leaving a comment about it in the discussion thread). Pretty much everything that isn’t memes, news or politics is still dead around here. Except for pro wrestling somehow.

What I’m still missing from Reddit is actual discussion of the forms of entertainment that I enjoy. I even tried that thread about “what music are you listening to” that pops up in casual conversation once or twice but no one gives a fuck, not even the OP of those threads bothers going through and giving an up arrow to people that have replied. And no one interacts with any replies either, so might as well be on Facebook for that kind of ‘discussion’.

I’m also missing the haircare and skincare type subreddits. There were a lot of valuable resources and it was nice having a place for the occasional stupid questions. Also fashion / style type subreddits. I still think those would do great around here with LemmyNSFW mostly kept separate from everything else, so it would help keep the one handed browsers away. Although I still maintain that a big barrier for certain people in this regard is no posting to your own profile.

But yeah, there is lots and lots of stuff that this platform still needs. Memes, news and politics are the first things you’ll get on every platform. Now I just wish there was more than that.

“Women’s Stuff” is such a fucking brain-dead name for content about skincare and hair. I’m a man, yet I also have skin and (some) hair.

Is there a community like /r/skincareaddiction? That place was (probs still is tbh) the bomb for affordable/effective products, honest product reviews, and evidence-based recommendations from cosmetologist members.

Yeah this is where I’m coming from. I ofc don’t like the evolution of reddit and didn’t want anything in that sense.

But the traction in casual themes seems lacking. Like ofc it will be less and smaller. But I feel like some branches are completely missing while others seem so dry.

That’s the thing being a small community with a direct monopoly. The unique selling point (USP) needs to be so clear for users.

But I think we should keep repeating these posts, even if there’s no traction. We are laying the ground work in that sense. And one person reacting to the fifth post is what it’s all about. It’s the content to be put out there.

So I think you succeeded with your music thread! It’s just the expectation is on the wrong metric here, keep going. WILLYA?

That’s where I’m coming from with my fetching topic. Not because I like the current reddit, but because subs like Harley quinn need stuff for browsing majority to interact with!
