    Do it, Kevin! That will reduce the Republican majority, because House rep vacancies need to be filled by a special election. The governor can’t name an immediate replacement the way it works for Senate vacancies.

    I don’t know how long it takes under California to do a special election, but it is some non-trivial duration.

        I once took a road trip through CA. What I remember about Bakersfield is that there was a poster at the train station we checked out, the poster was for “The Oil Experience”.

        The armpit of the state. Oil Derricks in megachurch parking lots. Whole place smells. It’s truly awful.

        Protracted government shutdown is the end of the US global dominance. Just like Trump, once you cut the purse strings the whole thing comes crashing down.
