minus-squareevidences@lemmy.worldcakelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up53arrow-down1·2 months agoJust north of Antarctica in the southern hemisphere.
minus-squarestebo@sopuli.xyzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·2 months agolol what else did they mean by hemisphere? is there an eastern and a western hemisphere?
minus-squareTexasDrunk@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7·2 months agoYes! Divided by the prime meridian and the antimeridian. That’s a good question, though.
minus-squarestebo@sopuli.xyzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·2 months agoThat feels wrong though. First of all the prime meridian is completely arbitrary (as opposed to the equator), and in some parts of the world like Japan and New Zealand the “western” hemisphere would actually be closest towards the east.
minus-squareSpikesOtherDog@ani.sociallinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·2 months agoIt is arbitrary! England declared themselves the center of the world, and everyone else went with it.
minus-squareJimVanDeventer@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6·2 months agoThe peninsula is considered the north side. So the location of the shipwreck is south of South America.
minus-squareoo1@lemmings.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·2 months agoHey it’s just south of Orkney. Small world.
minus-squareskulblaka@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·2 months ago the peninsula is considered the north side look at the peninsula it’s on the west side
minus-squareKraven_the_Hunter@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·2 months agoYou’re looking at it from the South Pole, so there is no West, only North.
minus-squarethen_three_more@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·2 months agoIt literally says beneath the Weddell sea.
minus-squareanonymouse2@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·2 months agoBut where is the Weddell sea?
minus-squareLvxferre [he/him]@mander.xyzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·2 months agoYeah… probably “between Antarctica and the South Atlantic” would be the best reference here. [Now it’s probably not the time for me to ramble on how the Atlantic should be considered two oceans instead of one, right?]

Just north of Antarctica in the southern hemisphere.
Listen here you little shit.
