minus-squareiAmTheTot@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up28arrow-down1·4 days ago“Just north of Antarctica” is still not helpful at all though. Even a hemisphere would narrow it down more.
minus-squareevidences@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up53arrow-down1·4 days agoJust north of Antarctica in the southern hemisphere.
minus-squarestebo@sopuli.xyzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·4 days agolol what else did they mean by hemisphere? is there an eastern and a western hemisphere?
minus-squareTexasDrunk@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7·4 days agoYes! Divided by the prime meridian and the antimeridian. That’s a good question, though.
minus-squarestebo@sopuli.xyzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·4 days agoThat feels wrong though. First of all the prime meridian is completely arbitrary (as opposed to the equator), and in some parts of the world like Japan and New Zealand the “western” hemisphere would actually be closest towards the east.
minus-squareSpikesOtherDog@ani.sociallinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·4 days agoIt is arbitrary! England declared themselves the center of the world, and everyone else went with it.
minus-squareJimVanDeventer@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6·4 days agoThe peninsula is considered the north side. So the location of the shipwreck is south of South America.

minus-squareKraven_the_Hunter@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·4 days agoYou’re looking at it from the South Pole, so there is no West, only North.
minus-squareoo1@lemmings.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·4 days agoHey it’s just south of Orkney. Small world.
minus-squarethen_three_more@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·4 days agoIt literally says beneath the Weddell sea.
minus-squareanonymouse2@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·4 days agoBut where is the Weddell sea?
minus-squareLvxferre [he/him]@mander.xyzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·4 days agoYeah… probably “between Antarctica and the South Atlantic” would be the best reference here. [Now it’s probably not the time for me to ramble on how the Atlantic should be considered two oceans instead of one, right?]

Just north of Antarctica in the southern hemisphere.
Listen here you little shit.
