Functionally overalls are just pants with a really high waist line (neckline?)
pants that don’t stop just become overalls… or a apron with legs.

An overall either covers all your clothes (it has sleeves) or it has a bib. The pants don’t just go up.
Where I’m from, we call them coveralls if they fully cover your clothes and overalls if it’s just a bib
If they do, they’re called waders.
Overalls are what happens when an apron and pants have a baby.
My grandad told us when he dies to dig a hole and throw him in it with his overalls on so that “they” dont rob him one last time
