The GOP chair was caught off guard and scrambled—first delaying the vote, then trying to sabotage it by adding amendments to include Biden administration communications. Democrats called their bluff and agreed.

Then the GOP chair, Rep. Higgins, lied, claiming the motion FAILED until Rep. Robert Garcia forced a full roll call vote.

Ultimately, the vote passed 8-2 after 3 Republicans DEFIED their leadership and joined all 5 Democrats to pass the motion.

Can’t we just celebrate a win for once without saying they’re not doing enough? This is a good thing any way you look at it.

I think it’s hard to take the DNC seriously when they still let Chuck Shumer drone people to sleep, I mean, speak for the party.

They’ve snubbed their own party’s progressive caucus for brain dead geriatrics.

Their leadership has blatantly benefited from insider trading and social welfare while failing to achieve those policies for their constituents.

Every day the DNC looks more and more like a broken clock that’s only only right when it’s 2 minutes to midnight.

They really, really, don’t deserve applause at this point. They deserve to be replaced.

We should celebrate the win for sure! But calling it “spine growth” is delusional, wishful thinking.

They think the Epstein thing might actually stick this time. They’re trying to use that as best they can. Any party would do that

It might be a strong move for once though. Time will tell.

I’m going to ask a honest question because I don’t know the answer. If Trump’s name is on the list, why didn’t Dems release it when Biden was in office? Yes I know that’s a question the right has been asking but I don’t know the answer to it.

Because I don’t care who’s on the list, Republican or Dem. They all deserve prison

Because Biden respected the law. The Epstein files were sealed by a judge until after Maxwell’s trial. They weren’t unsealed until January of this year. Biden, by law, couldn’t release the files.

Apparently it was under seal by the courts while Ghilaine was on trial, and only became unsealed in Biden’s literal last week in the presidency. And he was trying to do a bunch of things at that time, especially with Ukraine and Israel.

Not sure if Biden/dems have given a reasom yet. I believe, typically, the official reason they keep this files secret is they may still intend to take legal action in the future.

Unofficially, Biden’s AG Merrick Garland really did not go hard against Trump. They let him get away with an attempted coup, not sure if that was at Biden’s request or if Garland persuaded him not to.

Farfetched theory on my part but Biden really tried not to stir the waters, I feel, to avoid a civil war.

My cynical ass thinks Biden didn’t want to set precedence that the rich / president can be held accountable. He naively thought Trump is done anyway, let’s just go back to the status quo and not bother with real consequences for the rich.

Along with what Salty said, it also almost certainly implicates some of the DNC’s donor class. At this point, it’s too big of a win to not go with it and too big of a loss to go against it though. I don’t know if there’s any amount of money that could get the majority of Democrat representatives to stick their necks out and go against it.

          1. Trump’s in the files, but they probably don’t have the stuff from the wildest conspiracy theories. So there’s going to be a let down no matter what.
          2. There’s a lot of victims in those files who deserve some protection and privacy. Redactions take a lot of manpower, as we’ve seen with this 1000 agent effort. That manpower could be spent on going after live criminals.
          3. Dems in the files too.

that aint happenin, the loyalty trump demands of his ppl is a double edged sword, if he goes under they go with him. Some second grade ppl will try to cling onto by pretending trump was never the driving force but they are doomed to fail. If trump goes under the reps are done for for a while.

Please stop this wishful thinking. I’ve been hearing this shit for over 4 decades! Oh just wait till Regan is gone! Oh after Bush they are done! Oh after two illegal wars they are done! Oh after Trump 1 they are done for sure! Oh after the pandemic they are done! Oh after the old go away they are done! Now we’re back to oh after Trump goes away they are done.

These morons are NOT going away. They will vote in lockstep with whatever asshole the GOP produces next and mark my words after Trump worse is coming, because with the GOP it always gets worse.

GOP are either dumb enough to try or just smart enough to know it’s their only option. While I agree with your assessment of the facts I still think the GOP is trying to have its cake and eat it to with regards to getting rid of trump while keeping his base.

If they can walk this tightrope until ICE finishes establishing themselves as the national gestapo… they might be able to keep the MAGA train rolling after trump kicks the bucket.

high horse? Hardly. Not having principles and being opportunistic is how they lost last election. Sitting on their hands all this time approving republican bills is a confirmation to that. Epstein has ZERO impact on average worker at this point. Yes criminals have to be in jail and human trafficking is a disgust. However this will affect lives of hundreds while millions are still not protected and Democrats have no intent of protecting working class. Biden flirted with more pro-worker stance and with Haris things were back to status quo. So no, my friend no high horse, just looking realistically.
