I don’t understand how giving people a link to buy lab ingredients will get anyone to learn an entire degree’s worth of knowledge by fucking around with cell cultures with zero knowledge of even basic sterile technique. Congrats to whoever does, but that’s expecting people to learn rock climbing by encouraging them to find a large boulder to raw dog without training, theory, or proper climbing equipment.

          zero knowledge. It’s called learning.

I have a degree in this shit. Get off your stupid high horse, you’re not helping or educating anyone. You just want to feel good about yourself by calling other people stupid and doing a shit job at science advocacy. How about you learn what not being an arrogant dick looks like?

We should stop treating adults like children. This is not hard. When people attack science we should back. Being ignorant is not useful to anyone.

That initial comment can be taken in two ways, and you chose the worst one by thinking they’re antivax when in fact they’re not. Take a look at this removed comment from the modlog by the person you originally replied to:

Not to mention the context. It’s Lemmy where the overwhelming majority of users are squarely pro-vax and generally well-educated to assume the worst from the get-go. The least you can do is skim through a user’s comment history to get a sense of what they mean if you’re so keen on people figuring things out on their own. At least be coherent in that front.

My point is for you to stop being arrogant, stop assuming things, and learn proper science communication. Keep your conviction, but do it right.

Telling people they can learn anything is arrogant? They can… They just don’t want to.

Steps by step protocols, classes etc. Can you cook a microwave dinner? If so, you can do this.

Brother, I have read entire books on this and have spent a good deal of time in the lab, and I know for a fact you don’t learn it by following a cooking recipe from YouTube.

Cool? But I think you are missing context. There are kits - no one will learn by avoiding failure. Do you really believe I meant one video would be it? Smh come on… But start somewhere. Its the concepts and not looking at it like magic… Its not

                But start somewhere.

You start with approachable material that explains the basic theory. This is not it by putting the cart before the horse.

Are you serious? How is this complex. I respect your opinion but kids do these kits in school. I’m confused on what you see on this website that’s complex?

Before you geniuses see they are kidney cells and Dunning-Kruger all over… You can culture your own pluripotent stem cells from your stomach. Grow some more brain cells. You need them.

Think you missed the “start simple” part. Also, no shit? I think you missed the human cell culture. That’s not a plant my dude.
