The vast majority of Dutch voters have little confidence in politics and don’t expect things to improve after the upcoming election, Ipsos I&O found in its annual Budget Day survey for NOS.Only 29 percent of voters have some or a lot of confidence in politics. 68 percent have little to no confidence. Only 18 percent expect the political situation to improve after the parliamentary elections on October 29.

      I’m not sure of that. My impression is that many far-right voters actually want lefty things to happen. Since that’s not happening, their solution is to vote further to the right.

      Far-right parties play in to this. They promise all the cool stuff,but deliver none. Far-right voters refuse to learn the lesson.

      I think it’s a sentiment shared in most western countries nowadays and probably others as well.

      We’ve grown disillusioned with political figureheads, they circular rhetoric and straight up lies.

      Hell, I remember a few years ago a local news outlet published a statistic of “the most trusted professions” in my country. Suffice to say ‘Politician’ was at the bottom.
