That’s funny. I’ve been defining the FBI and the current administration as embodying “Nihilistic Violent Extremism” as “criminal conduct… in furtherance of political, social, or religious goals that derive primarily from a hatred of society at large and a desire to bring about its collapse by sowing indiscriminate chaos.”

    Weird, right?

Clearly! Hopefully you’ll be driven away!

To Canada, Portugal, or maybe Malta. Which apparently all have very strong protections for transgender folks. Malta apparently combines that with no murders of trans persons from 2008-2022.

        (Stay safe please)

Interesting. Malta being a very Catholic country, I would not have guessed it being ahead. It is tiny, though, and there isn’t much employment. But a really lovely little rock. English speaking and with fantastic history. Yes, I may have considered moving there once.

Gender identity is constitutionally protected there! I wouldn’t have guessed it either, I found out about it when I was researching options on places to move.

Unfortunately, a lot of places are…

Safety and survival are the top priorities, so the furthest from “actually trying to kill you” is ideal IMO. But getting to another country is easier said than done, so its get going to where you can be as safe as you can. If that’s Portugal, do it. If its a blue city in a blue state, do that. If its surviving on a homestead and avoiding all contact possible… Thats still an option.

One of my friends is planning to go to Toronto for an “extended work trip” her boss is arranging.

I really fucking hate this stupid timeline.

Is there any hope that this designation makes it easier for trans Americans to apply for asylum in other countries? I’d love to see Canada step up and welcome trans refugees. We do have our problems though: politics is lurching to the right and the fascist sharks are circling. I worry for my trans friends here too. But we’re mostly not at MAGA levels of insanity, and I hope what we see in the USA shocks Canada out of our drift towards it.

I hope they do make it easier for trans Americans to get in!

With any luck, what’s happening here right now will be a big enough warning for your fellow Canadians…

I hope Canadian rights campaign groups start to push for the government to recognize that trans people are not safe in the USA and deserve the chance of asylum here.
