Just FYI, if someone spray paints your car the cops won’t even bother taking a police report, since the paint can be removed…
However if any spray paint gets into a jet engine, it can potentially destroy the engine while travelling 700km/h at an altitude of 12km. This can turn a plane with people aboard into a missile.
In a modern plane? Not likely. Most planes have at least two engines so an engine going out isn’t a death sentence. And even if both engines go out you can still glide for quite a distance which allows you to get to an emergency landing. There’s a chance of a crash if the plane loses power during takeoff but again it has to be something pretty catastrophic going wrong for all engines to fail. A little paint getting into the intake won’t do much. It’s just going to get combusted and come out as gas.
Given paint is most likely to effect the rotor blade balance. At what point in the flight do you think an error is most likely to result.
In modern planes, it’s most likely when the engines are pushed hardest. Normally on take off to increase angle of attack. Reducing area where take off noise effects.
Admitadly in most private airports. The area at risk from such is normally minimally occupied.
Also anyone who can afford to run a jet. Would be pretty negligent not to have the engine fully checked after a attack like this. So odds are low.
I’m sure in this case they would just take them apart before flying and give them a thorough cleaning. I was talking about just paint in general isn’t likely to kill an engine or crash a plane. They hit birds on take off and survive, a little paint isn’t going to do much.

But I’ll add. Yes if birds enter engines they destroy them. This is why air intekes thed to have protection. Harm is more likely from rear engine input. As these are less protected as flight makes it pretty hard for anything but weapons grade to enter that way.
As you mentioned jet engines are very diff now to early designs due to accident reports.
Guilty of criminal damage. For exactly the event PA was found guilty of terrorism.
