Because Hamas then wouldn’t stand a chance and prefers to use the civillians as a tactical asset to increase their odds, which is asshole-behaviour.
And because the Israelis decided to don’t care about this civilians any more, which is also asshole behaviour.

So, in short: because both are assholes.

Palestine doesn’t have an army, a navy, or an air force.

But, enjoy all the excuses you will undoubtedly see in this thread from genocide Israeli apologists.

Hell, Palestinians can’t even go to a designated aid station for food without getting massacred by Israel.

But it’s not just Israel/Palestine. War has always been like this.

I don’t know if there has ever been this level of discrepancy between availability vs access to aid in a conflict. There’s lots of aid available, but Gaza has zero access to it.

It’s a manufactured famine, which is a war crime. (Not to mention murdering civilians at will when they try to obtain aid.)

But try telling that to an Israel apologist.

Hey IDF, why do you guys wear uniforms and operate openly and build military bases away from schools and hospitals? Curious. You know who else used to act like that? Hitler and the nazis.

why do you guys wear uniforms and operate openly and build military bases away from schools and hospitals

Two reasons: First, they actually have a military, generously funded by the US taxpayer. (And Palestine does not.) Second, you’re right, it’s so rude for Palestine to directly place their schools and hospitals in the path of American Israeli bombs.

Because that only makes sense if both sides are roughly the same size and strength. When one side is outnumbered and outgunned, it is better to hide and ambush.

You have discovered you’re wanted dead by a country committing warcrimes and who is capable of blowing shit up from a distance. Are you going to announce where you’ll be and when? How sure are you that they won’t kill you the moment you arrive or even in transport to the location?

Flip the switch and you’ve committed war crimes, arent you going to try to do the same to them?

Beyond that, no set time and place will simulate a side’s perceived strengths and their opponents perceived weaknesses. To do what you suggest would require both sides to agree, but one or both sides aren’t going to agree if it is at their disadvantage

Meaning, the only way this would be agreed is if:

    • both sides can trust each other
    • both sides perceive it as an equal match (or are actually equally matched)

At that point you might as well propose alternatives to killing each other (and bystanders)

Why doesn’t Hamas or Israel just meet at a predetrmined place and time and just have out or kill the crap out of each other? Instead of involving civs who don’t have anything to do with war?

Hamas was what Afghanistan/Osama Bin Laden was to the United States but Palestinians ended up being the Iraq end of the matter for Israel.

    Do the math.

why don’t the US and the Viet Cong just meet at a predetermined place and time so the US can spray agent orange more effectively? All those war crimes in Vietnam could’ve been avoided if the Vietnamese guerillas just surrendered in advance!

think about the children IDF soldiers!

I don’t know if it would be correct to say that the civilians have nothing to do with the war. As far as I’m aware, the IDF’s intended target is all Palestinians, civilians included.

Because why would they put themselves in danger, when they can let others die for them?
