Doesn’t have to be one you think is true or even possible. Could be niche or mainstream. Mine is probably Mike Tyson threw that Jake Paul fight. I heavily believe Tyson did everything he could and is just old. Not to mention he’s fighting a roided up good athlete in his physical prime with a limited engagement strategy. I do like hearing people argue its all staged, understandable cope.

Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace was originally planned to be a covert Sith Master. He force jumps, he uses mind control, and he “accidentally” sabotages them. But the negative reaction to him was so strong, Lucas reworked the last 2 scripts of the prequels and is why Count Dooku basically comes out of nowhere.

Grey aliens aren’t actually aliens? They are evolved time traveling humans from the future.

Pale grey skin bc climate is destroyed and they can’t go outside. Smaller due to poor nutrition related to climate change. Big eyes for the lack of light and use of screens. Long fingers for typing.

I don’t actually believe in aliens or anything but I like the idea of this, if aliens were an actual thing.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_time_conspiracy_theory

The Holy Roman Emperor Otto III conspired with Pope Sylvester II (and quite possibly the Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII as well) to doctor the dating system. The trio cooked the books to place their reigns at A.D. 1000, which they did because it is an auspicious number.

The three men added 297 years of bogus history to the early medieval period to facilitate this deception.

I have my own that is similar to this one, due to calendar switcheroo stuff. the idea is that biblical scholars at some point in history made up the stuff about Noah and others in Genesis living to 900 years and whatnot, or it was really just a simple mistranslation of ‘years’ with ‘months’ or ‘seasons’ and living that long sounded way cooler and made their religion superior because of it so they went with it.

i’m sure i’m not the only one who has thought of this but if one were to do the math and divide the supposed years lived by 12, it would put Noah at 77.5 years old instead 900, which is still a really long time for that era. each descendant lives less long but still reasonable ages after dividing by 12, all the way to Abraham when the division stops sounding logical, with him supposedly living to 175 which would put him at 14 and likely isn’t true (but still possible).

at this point the time error/lie switches to seasons, so ages get divided by 4 instead, putting Abraham almost at age 44, much more likely. the last one with an abnormally high age (that i am aware of) is Moses, at 120. By that point, it’s actually his real age and no more division is necessary, plus, records from other places would start to show noticable conflicts in ages.

in my mind, if Otto and Sylvester actually did the 297 year thing, what’s to stop them from doing this too?

The only issue I have with that is with the amount of wealth and connections he had, he probably would have disappeared himself before he was arrested. Unless someone even more connected felt the need to shut him up before he had the chance to use the dirt he had on people.

If he disappeared, people would pursue him. Given the compromising material on other wealthy and powerful people he likely had access to, it wouldn’t just be western law enforcement, but potentially intelligence agencies of adversaries, criminal organizations, and the compromised individuals themselves.

Pretty much everything “New World Order”: One of the oldest and most common labels for conspiracy theories that claim a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually rule the world under a totalitarian one-world government.

Edit: Although there are certainly some signs of such conspiracies today, the absurd thing about many of these theories is that they are often used by right-wing extremists to gain support for ideas that are very close to the goals of the conspirators described in such theories.

The best example is probably MAGA with its “cabal” of child molesters. Now that their leader is president, it is telling that MAGA has gone quiet on this conspiracy theory - and no one there is talking anymore about the fact that influential billionaires are becoming richer and more influential under the MAGA regime.

I have always found such things interesting, as they themselves give rise to conspiracy theories.

Yes, that’s why all of this provides such good material for conspiracy theories: the dull-witted MAGA workforce certainly didn’t come up with this themselves, but most likely rather their financial backers behind the scenes. The people in the administration are also benefiting, of course, but I think most of them are more like the front for smarter people who prefer not to appear in public office - people like Thiel and the like.

As I said, this is all conspiracy theory because it cannot be proven beyond doubt, but it is remarkable how well particularly unscrupulous fascists are working together worldwide these days, how visible they are in both traditional and social media, and how respectable their standing is in the business world despite their blatant Nazi rhetoric.

When you consider that it is not a conspiracy theory but reality that the power to bring this about actually lies in the hands of a few billionaires, you have to at least be suspicious.

But yes, all these strange developments could easily turn you into a conspiracy theorist yourself - and probably in a way that is at least some what plausible, despite the lack of evidence. At least it seems to me that there is significantly more circumstantial evidence here than for all the ridiculous fantasy stories that the fascists continue to spread.

Ah, thank you! I don’t know anything about wrestling - only that the US Secretary of Education, Lisa McMahon, is the wife of wwe wrestling promoter Vince McMahon, who has been tried several times for rape and sex trafficking (and is, of course, a good friend of the orange rapist). I thought that was what this comment referred to.

This isn’t a conspiracy at all. Plastic recycling was originally driven by plastic producers, to shift the blame for pollution away from themselves. Basically, it was a way for the producers to go “it’s not our fault the world is full of plastic. It’s the consumer’s fault for failing to recycle all of it!” They saw the inevitable plastic mountain on the horizon, and took steps to ensure they weren’t going to be blamed for it.

I’ve always loved the Denver Airport conspiracy theory - that it is actually the secret headquarters of the illuminati or other organisations. It was $2bn over budget and has tunnels under it, which have led people to claim there are also secret bunkers under the airport. It also has a few bizarre pieces of art within it.

I think it’s just an airport with ugly aesthetic choices but I love that people think of all the places a global secret society would base itself, they’d pick Denver Airport.

Apparently there are 6 underground levels at the airport - but they’re used to run an airport. And the tunnels were for a failed automated baggage transport system. The art is just art.

I love Hollow Earth theories. There’s some truly insane worldbuilding that’s gone into describing what’s inside there. Sometimes it becomes this bizarre multidimensional thing with layers of magical effects the deeper you go, and some sort of a primordial chaos forest or something at the bottom. edit: The primordial chaos forest is also infinite, which is important

I tried to find my favorite long-winded text on the topic which goes really deep into the weeds with histories of various alien civilizations and shit, but this is the best I could quickly find.

The British Library sponsored the colonization of Africa in order to destroy all evidence of a continent-spanning empire ruled exclusively by women. I mostly like it because the empire had war giraffes.
