They spent WWI running into Austrian machine guns for almost no gain, much like the rest of Europe. And WWII they seem to just have fucked around in North Africa for a while until the allies kicked them out and invaded them.
I don’t think either war would have really turned out differently if Italy had just remained neutral
There’s a good chance Hitler would have won if he hadn’t wasted so much time and military assets in North Africa, Southeast Europe and Italy. He would have faced an even larger fraction of the British navy but Germany’s navy was already hopelessly outclassed as it was.

I’m sure there’s a joke in there about Paraguay being on the receiving end of a lot of Nazis fleeing to South America after WW2.
