Nigeria and Ghana have condemned what they called the recent “Afrophobic protests targeting African nationals in South Africa.” In a statement, Nigeria’s ministry of foreign affairs said the two countries want the issue placed on the agenda at the next African Union summit.

    Is this talking migrant workers fleeing persecution, or undocumented immigrants being deported by the government? The article seems to suggest both, moving between one and the other in the same sentence.

      Yeah this issue seems to just keep going and going. Are there any South African users here that can comment? I get the feeling that this issue has more complicated origins than at first appearance, and some local insight might help.

        It’s been going on for decades, but it was just white farmers before so .ml types considered it righteous.

          Believe it or not (.ml types won’t), every brown person isn’t automatically in a club where they all love each other. There’s plenty of weird prejudices and ethnic tensions you haven’t even heard of.
