    Too much butter and too much sugar look the same on my phone. What is the difference?

      Butter is a little looser - the dough clumps around the chips but otherwise it’s pretty smooth. Too much sugar is stiffer, and it’s kind of folded over itself in places.

      The sugar cookie will be too grainy and brittle as the sugar crystals aren’t all incorporated.
