You really can’t glean the information just by looking at it if you’ve literally never seen one before in your life. It’s hard to Envision if you’re just used to it, like I said I was a little slow to read it but I still know how I’m just not used to it so it’s no longer instant . But I also can understand that if you’ve literally never seen one in your life and never had it mentioned to you you would really have no way to know what the difference between the big or the small hand was.

Now if you did sit and stare at it for long enough you could eventually figure it out as the hands moved but most people aren’t going to sit there and stare at a clock for 10min to try and figure it out.

At the end of the day even mundane things can be a skill, and I do agree that there is a substantial lack of critical thinking as the generations go on it was a problem already in my generation much less these latest ones. All That No Child Left Behind and standardized testing crap really destroyed schools hard it went from critical thinking to just memorize the answer or skip the question if you don’t know, asking questions became bad and unfortunately that’s going to follow you into adulthood

I genuinely don’t know where I would even find an analog clock anymore outside of school and I haven’t been in school for more than 20 years. genuinely do not remember the last time I’ve seen an analog clock, and I work in a lot of public government offices who are usually pretty far behind the times but even they use digital clocks. to the point that I just went to look had a picture of one and it actually takes me a second to read now.

I don’t understand why people are so obsessed on holding on to knowledge that is not relevant to your daily life, digital clocks are objectively better at the task of telling the time and it’s what exists everywhere in life now I don’t really fault anyone for not being able to read an analog.

If I had to Hazard a guess I guess it’s probably just a lack of empathy? Or maybe that’s not quite the correct word but inability to put yourself in another’s place. They can’t Envision someone not having knowledge that they have unless that person is stupid.

  • The funny part is the only reason I don’t really want to work right now is because everybody fuckin sucks and makes it miserable. I’m a systems administrator and if all I had to do was computer work I would be perfectly happy I could work more than 40 hours. The problem is that 90% of my job is kissing ass to people that know literally nothing about computers desperately trying to get something halfway correct done while the retard in charge who hasn’t understood computers for over 20 years now overrides and makes a dumbass decision that is guaranteed to cause problems, trying to preemptively get ready for when it inevitably causes the exact problems I said it would cause and having to deal with the cleanup and getting blamed for it even though I at every possible meeting made it clear that this was a bad idea.

So yeah I don’t want to work , but that’s not because I’m lazy it’s because fuck other people lol

I grew up just north of Seattle in Bothell only just recently moved out to the coast bit south of Aberdeen I have learned the meaning of tree lol. If I stand the top a large elevation I struggle to find buildings my vision is nothing but trees and Hills I feel like that’s more what the post is talking about.

I live surrounded by tree as far as the eye can see in all directions, it’s very much republican County though lol

  • Anyone who genuinely thought that privacy was going to be perfect was an idiot. But they’re going to be better than Gmail and they are. The only way to achieve any type of true privacy would be to start up your own Data Center , run your own email , and then be the one that’s dealing with the government knocking on your door. Have fun with that.

Put frankly privacy on the internet does not exist and anyone that thinks it’s achievable on the modern internet is honestly an idiot. We can only select the least shitty option there is no good option. And the problem is even that is a moving Target I’m not going to keep changing my email provider every couple years to whatever the new current popular privacy option is.

Only done poorly, which sadly is most cars, even new. They are aimed too fucking high. Headlights are meant to be aimed down at the damn road. Not up high for far reach. That’s the point of highbeams.

I got projector leds for my car but i properly aimed them, the light has a sharp hard cutoff juuuuust below the windshield on Most sedans at distance to make sure I don’t blind em. If i need more and it’s safe I’ve got my highbeams which turn the road in even the darkest rural to noon.

  • Lifepo4 is pretty much the one type you can safely leave unattended, it’s very very hard to get them to burn and even when they do it’s mostly smoke. Lithium is the big flame/boom one. The trade off is less energy density compared with lithium but for home storage thats less of an issue. The batteries i shared even feature fire suppression systems (basically an automatically deployed fire ratardant foam internally) for additional protection.

Building a little box of insulation around the batteries using some foam board panels and a water heater blanket with some water pipe heating tape you can get at most hardware stores would be the cheap easy way and should help with the colder month temps. And is easily picked uo and set aside in warmer weather
