It’s a process. Eventually, you’ll figure out what you like and you’ll have a reliably stocked pantry to whip up a meal you’ll enjoy on short notice.

Right now, I’m going pretty basic: rice + beans + veg + cheese + olive oil + spice–most. everything made ahead of time, before I get hungry.

I’m a slow driver, at or slightly below the speed limit. My tips for not pissing people off:

1. Use your cruise control/maintain speed. People can get used to whatever speed you’re at, but if you keep changing your speed, they’ll keep accelerating into it and slamming on the brakes.

2. When the road opens up nice and straight with clear visibility, for fucks sake, DO NOT SPEED UP (see: 1), even though it feels natural to do so. There’s a line of cars behind you that have been waiting for the dotted yellow line to pass you–and where you feel like it’s safe to go faster is usually where they put those dotted lines.

I’ve been taking the bus to work some days and the emotional difference between riding bumpers for 30 minutes and being on the bus listening to tunes and reading for 50 is noticeable. I miss the bus on days when I take the car in.

I was a terminal redditors for over a decade and that last year or two I was getting site-wide bans at an accelerating rate. I’m off there to avoid a permaban and I’ll only post there if I need a question answered no other way.

I think the reason the myth of Vietnam veterans being spit on is so prevalent is because its a way for people who supported the war to avoid responsibility for sending people to be traumatized by a meaningless war.

Fighting an unjust war is like pouring gasoline on the fire of PTSD. World War 2 vets went through hell, but at least they know their sacrifice was, in some sense, worth something. When a soldier is fighting an unpopular war in the service of empire, the psychological burden will be much higher.

I don’t know… I’d say people have this attitude more towards blind hatred. I’ve been seriously dogpiled for pointing out an inconvenient fact… you simple can not derail a hate train.

Many of the Greek-owned Italian restaurants and diners in my are being transferred to Albanians, but the language in the kitchens is invariably Spanish.
