Kat Cammack recounts emergency room ordeal but claims ‘fearmongering’ by Democrats and pro-choice activists sowing confusion among medical professionals

Florida Republican Rep. Kat Cammack has revealed that she almost died last year as a result of her state’s six-week abortion ban, which left hospital staff reluctant to treat her ectopic pregnancy for fear of criminal prosecution.

Cammack was only five weeks pregnant at the time, the embryo had no heartbeat and her own safety was in jeopardy, but nevertheless the congresswoman found herself forced to pull up the letter of the law on her phone to argue the case and even put in a call to Governor Ron DeSantis, without being able to reach him, before staff relented and came to her aid.

But surprisingly, given her ordeal, the representative does not feel the law itself is at fault and instead blames Democrats for scaring medical professionals into confusion over their responsibilities.

“There will be some comments like, ‘Well, thank God we have abortion services,’ even though what I went through wasn’t an abortion,” she said.

      Yes. Yes she is.

This is an important bit of cognitive dissonance occurring right now, Christians do not consider their “medically necessary” abortions to be “abortions.” And they don’t think anyone BUT them can actually have a medically necessary one, everyone else is using them for birth control. So the laws should become more restrictive, not less.

      https://theauthoritarians.org/

Authoritarians compartmentalize everything. The conclusions are indisputable and so no two justifications must ever be mentally compared to one another. They don’t even realize they’re doing it, and will assume it is being done to them.

Which is why my elementary and middle school teachers hated me. Take a fiercely logical kid who has no qualms about pointing out contradictions, put them up against an authoritarian (who, let’s be honest, probably works with kids because they’re guaranteed to have power over them), and you’re gonna end up with an angry adult and a kid who’s regularly put in detention.

I have zero regrets. Authoritarians can get fucked. The only good thing I can surely say they’d ever done, was that they managed to radicalize me before puberty.

I don’t know your teachers or situation and I am going to wildly generalise here, but having worked with teachers, they were probably just their best.

They are teaching a syllabus they didn’t write (you can only put so much make up on that pig) to a group of largely disengaged students, for generally insufficient pay.

They probably just wanted to make it through the day without contemplating self harm.

A spirited contrarian student who fancies themselves an intellectual can be dealt with the ideal way, engaging them, acknowledging the short comings of teaching content to a wide range of intellects/engagement levels.

Or the less ideal way, draconian authority. Sounds like you ran up against the former. Sorry that was your experience.

I wish I could agree, but my schools had two types of teachers: newbies who were desperate to prove themselves, and tenured teachers who gave no fucks. Even the “cool” science teacher couldn’t admit the truth when I came in with three different sources proving he had been spreading a myth to my class. There’s no excuse for teachers who can’t admit they were wrong - they have one job, to educate. Spreading false information is the opposite of what they should be doing, and I cannot forgive that.

If a loving god ever existed, he would not allow vile creatures such as this to be in any position of power. Yet, every position of power is filled with exactly this kind of human excrement. Only one thing will get rid of them.

Anyone not in the cult is “the left” or some other label that no longer means anything. It’s intentional to keep shifting public perception of anything that isn’t fascist is actually unamerican. No one wants to be an outsider, Timmy. You will enjoy your Medicaid cuts because if you don’t you’re a communist socialist woke CRT DEI feminist politically correct SJW who believes in intersectionality.

As a foreigner, it’s lowkey fucking hilarious to see Americans call everything left-of-center “Leftist/socialist/radical”, when even the Democrat party would typically be classed as slightly right of center in many democratic nations. Their attacks on countries like Sweden, Germany, Canada, etc. for enacting basic social programs to stem the damage from addictions and homelessness for example are pretty telling, as though it would be beneficial to society overall to leave people to their fates with no assistance, as though they were fish that jumped out of water onto the beach - as though they should just be left out in the sun to die, and rot in the open air while everyone passes by unconcerned.

It seems like most Americans barely leave their own state, let alone a country that isn’t Mexico or Canada. Having spent a fair time in most European countries, political discussions with locals typically involve how skewed the US perspective is on liberal/conservative views. Like calling Biden or Harris radical leftists. JFC. It’s embarrassing that people actually believe that. The brainwashing here is crazy.

I think part of the problem is the lack of money. Specifically, if you don’t have enough money, exploring the world and seeing different ways of life isn’t an option.

Poverty is corrosive to personhood and society, since it inherently kills possibilities - education, meeting people, contributing to community, and more.

That is very true. My comment certainly wasn’t a knock against anyone who can’t travel. The value proposition for travel to that extent is a hard sell to someone living paycheck to paycheck. The first time my wife and I went to Europe was largely on credit cards (we were young and paycheck to paycheck as well). We had to give up many comforts over the following years to pay it off.

The relative geographic isolation here is a major hurdle, and while the internet should be a great tool to discover what potential we have (like not going bankrupt after falling ill), it’s just as useful for big money to control the narrative.
