They should probably be hiring and throwing money at research on figuring out what will get them into the next technology so they can get back in the ring or even ahead when that time comes. Instead they seem to be choosing to fall further behind and just wait

A. Justify their layoffs using this information that came out later?
B. Use it to justify further layoffs?
C. Completely ignore this as the market has no real effect on their internal workings
