It was Biden, wasn’t it? No? Obama, then? No? Hillary? Bill? Pelosi? Who was it? Anti-Vaxxer?

Nah, didn’t happen, fake news. If it happened, why isn’t it on the news? I didn’t see it on the news.

    “The Lunatic Left strikes again!”

I can’t believe the amount of propaganda that floods USA society. Right-wingers genuinely don’t believe their side is violent and dangerous because of shitbags like Trump and Musk.

It’s not that they don’t believe their side is violent.

They believe their violence is justified. It’s everyone else that is wrong.

It’s a subtle but important distinction because they will gladly accept violence for their ends. They already have during January 6th.

My trump supporting father says that any violence committed on Jan 6 was secretly conducted by ANTIFA or the feds to make trump look bad.

That said though they do like violence from their side just look at how they react to protestors being run over but that’s OK because they were committing the horrific crime of blocking the road

You’re right. I should revise my statement to say that they don’t consider themselves violent compared to “the Left” (by which they mean libs, who they think are socialist communists because they’re completely brainwashed). They don’t have a coherent understanding of modern politics beyond picking a side and shouting loudest.

Citizens United spelled the final nail in the coffin.

It should come as no surprise that with the

      • Decentralization of media,
      • The massive rise in wealth inequality and number of billionaires,
      • Deregulation of money as speech,
      • And foreign interference from Russia, Israel, China, etc. muddying the waters…

      … And finally, combined with

      • Eroding education standards
      • Distancing of parents from their children
      • Widespread mental disorders and substance addiction and sometimes literal brain damage (lead poisoning, head trauma from football, etc.)

… That intellectualism is losing the race. These people live in completely alternate realities. Principals of religious faith have now fully been incorporated into political ideology. Once untethered from reason, it’s all about what you want to believe.

Stochastic terrorism is a form of political violence instigated by hostile public rhetoric directed at a group or an individual. Unlike incitement to terrorism, stochastic terrorism is accomplished with indirect, vague or coded language, which grants the instigator plausible deniability for any associated violence.

A key element of stochastic terrorism is the use of media for propagation, where the person carrying out the violence may not have direct connection to any other users of violent rhetoric.

According to a local news station in Atlanta, they identified the shooter as a white male.

So, minimal effort. There will be some mild condemnation from local officials because he killed a cop (a black cop, though), but I’m sure he’ll be remembered as an honorable but misguided patriot, particularly now that he’s dead. This will also probably be used as a way to start cutting back at the CDC even more, as it has now become a topic of greater public concern.

I have an antivax coworker who is also virulently anti-immigrant. Her main reason for being anti-immigrant is that she thinks immigrants are unvaccinated and bring diseases into this country. When she told me this I was too busy looking for my jaw on the ground to try and argue with her. She is exactly as unpleasant and ugly as you would imagine.

That’s smart. The probability any given antivaxxer might end up shooting you is still low, but I’d wager it’s several orders of magnitude higher than if you disagreed with any other type of person on a similar subject.

I try to get in real good with the antivaxxers in my life, just in case. Like the people who thank AI.

odds are formed after knowledge is had - tell me the last time you saw news of an antivax murder spree? Compare that to how often we hear of cops murdering during “no knock” raids. or traffic stops. or protests. or because they confused pistol and taser… etc.

I’m curious, in your worldview, should the shooter be left alone, talked down by de-escalation experts, or stopped by “good” cops flown in from a socialist country?

Or maybe we first eliminate guns from our culture and properly vet and train police officers, then we see if the active shooter is still going.

what does socialism have to do with this? yes, a cop is still an armed wing of an authoritarian gov, and they can also stop an unhinged shooter. two things can be true or happen at the same time.

i own plenty of guns. i am not anti gun. i am anti authoritarian.

I feel like you’re dodging the question. How should society deal with a shooter on a spree? Armed anti-authoritarians step in instead of the police? Vigilantism comes with many problems of its own and really isn’t an answer to authoritarianism.

If you think it should be stopped by police, why cheer that one was killed doing what he was supposed to do?

It’s not the left, it’s liberals. They’ve always wanted to disarm the left. The idea of armed unions, other leftists, or black people in general make liberals terrified. That’s why all major gun legislation in the history of our country has been aimed at those groups.
