For somebody who has undergone michael jackson levels of plastic surgery she seems to really be judging people about what they do with their bodies.

The correct reason to hate MTG is because she would vote to kill every one of her constituents if it made Mark Zuckerberg another penny.

Lemmy does a pretty good job pushing back against it so far - it never goes unmentioned like it would on reddit. And I think that has an effect. Once I actually started looking for censored content, I realized there isn’t that much of it here. I could go a day or two without finding any.

I’ll also say that there a few words I wouldn’t uncensor, namely slurs.

All conservatives peak in high school. They’ve selected accurate representatives. The rest of the world just needs to realize what a detriment conservatives are.

Can we please stop censoring words? It’s just amazing how much damage has been done by platforms to people in this respect.

I’ve started taking censored posts like this and emphatically uncensoring them so the naughty words are even more prominent.

I posted it in another comment.

It’s why my iPhone sucks, censoring the most basic swears and auto correcting my cursing. What’s worse is you can even use words like “die “ anymore.

You can setup auto completion rules to change words like ducking to fucking. What’s hilarious tho is when you actually intend to write something like ducking.

          • It learns a bit as you type. But if you want it to forcibly recognize a word go to settings > general > keyboard > text replacement and add the words it won’t recognize. You can even add a shortcut for common typos. But it will hard override any “well you touched the edge of this key but I think you actually meant this” so use the shortcuts carefully.

You need to tap on the word in quotes in the upper left of the keyboard before you hit space to train the autocorrect on a word you intentionally typed.

I am fairly confident, that there is more content on lemmy right now, than a person can sift through.

If there is more than about a dozen comments under a post, i rarely read all of them.

yeah i think it’s more about the quality than the quantity

like, there can be a thousand comments but all of them pointless, which is what happens when your social media platform only tries to grow in user numbers. we should strive for quality over quantity, i think.

One of the few things that are consistent with these people (MAGA sycophants), fueled by hate; is how they harbor a fair amount of self hatred in the case where they don’t clear the purity hurdle.

As well as describing MTG as a jezebel, as explained by uid0gid0, the sentence structure is interesting:

“I may be X, but at least I’m not Y” would imply that both X and Y are negative traits, but that Y is worse. The sentence doesn’t really make sense if the X is to be seen as positive: “I may be nice, but at least I’m not a jerk.” Thus, Loomer is implying that being Jewish is already a strike against her in her own eyes.

Jezebel was an old testament (or Torah) wife of one of the Jewish kings back in the day. She was tossed out a window for “leading people away from Yahweh” which is usually code for encouraging people to worship one of the other regional deities of the Levant such as Enki.
Later on, her name was used to disparage female fortune tellers in the Book of Revelation. Nowadays calling a woman Jezebel is a polite way of saying she’s a slut.

Thats my only hope. Much like how the top nazis under Hitler would have (and in the few days also did) imploded in infighting after Hitlers death. Will the MAGA movement fail when the driving force dies? Will we see a mad scramble for power where whoever comes out in top doesn’t have whatever crazy Trump has?

They very clearly tried to test run a new trump-lite candidate who they could control in 2020 with DeSantis, but he flopped so hard it was hilarious. They’ve also started trying to talk up some of Trump’s kids and test the waters there, but they’re inconveniently too old and too young or too female for the voter base’s liking

The Republican party is absolutely fucked when Trump passes because they can’t manufacture a replacement for his cult of personality in time. This is part of why they’re trying to perform more election fuckery right now (and partly because they keep passing incredibly unpopular policies and executive actions which they can’t blame on the other party at all right now)

Sadly, this kind of trash is far more important to the average person than the things that matter (and this is hardly just an American phenomenon). It’s mainly because the things that actually matter are much more complicated, and require effort to understand - whereas this kind of crap lends itself to quickly picking sides, and boosting one’s ego momentarily by providing someone else to look down upon that your entire social circle is likely to agree with. The unfortunate reality is the majority of people just don’t have it within them to deal with what really matters & prefer the distraction of mundane cat-fights to avoid having to face that fact.

        bike-shedding

From bikeshed +‎ -ing. The term was coined as a metaphor to illuminate Parkinson’s Law of Triviality. Parkinson observed that a committee whose job is to approve plans for a nuclear power plant may spend the majority of its time on relatively unimportant but easy-to-grasp issues, such as what materials to use for the staff bikeshed, while neglecting the design of the power plant itself, which is far more important but also far more difficult to criticize constructively. It was popularized in the Berkeley Software Distribution community by Poul-Henning Kamp[1] and has spread from there to the software industry at large.

A lot of the rights they try to remove from us are hypocritically being followed by their behavior.

Which I suspect is why odd things are being pointed out.

It’s odd to make it a legal issue. Thus odd things are raised to the surface.
