Don’t get the causal relationship reversed. For example, they aren’t anti-semites because they believe those conspiracy theories that say jews control everything - they subscribe to those conspiracy theories because they are anti-semites.

well, tbf, i don’t hate jews (in fact i find many of their teachings pretty cool) but i too believe that large parts of the world have been run in the last 50 years by a secret cabal of jews. a large part of that, in fact, can be checked by simply looking at who owns the media, and other influential organizations. the reason why nobody was allowed to say anything bad about israel for so long is because the media is all run by israel/the jews.

and tbh, i think it was for the better. zionism is mostly known for its negative sides (i.e. the very existence of israel, which is a settler-colonial project that causes so much harm in the middle east), but what’s rarely talked about is the significant positive sides of zionism, including the development of IT and such. zionism is/was heavily influencing the development of computing machinery and its use in everyday life.

Did Murdoch, Bezos, Zuckerburg and Musk convert to Judaism when I wasn’t paying attention or something? And when the hell could fox news, twitter or Facebook ever really prevent people from talking this shit about Jews? Fucking never.

Jesus fuck, listen to yourself. Same vibes as “I’m not racist, I just think you need help from white people before you can reach your full potential”

TBH I like takes like this.

Even if I can see pretty clear contradictions, it feels like the old internet, not the uniform, bandwagoning, loud bog of modern social media. Have an upvote, friend.

i might be wrong (and i’m frequently wrong about things) but at least it was an honest attempt :D

And see, that is a wonderful view.

I will take “I might be wrong about this” over absolutely any belief that’s based on absolute loyalty to some party or influencer or something like that. And the “new” internet doesn’t really reward that, unfortunately, it rewards angry conformity because tribalism is more engaging.

I worry about this on Lemmy TBH, with folks bandwagoning on some clickbaity sources as the top posts, and mods uninterested in doing anything about that.
