Seriously, Fuck Black Friday. Fuck the weeks before raising prices. Fuck the pretend 75% off of a piece of shit item that costs 5 bucks to make. Fuck making that item and marking it up 500%. Fuck not paying the person making that item a living wage. Fuck making a trinket that leverages a desperate person’s full day of labour away from their families.

There is no Thanks I’m giving here…And specifically a big fucking middle finger to the Amazon that takes lives and makes this world a shittier place.

Save the real Amazon by killing off the namesake corporation.

Fuck you Bezos, I hope your yacht fucking sinks while you and your plastic wife are aboard having botched elective surgeries.

If I didn’t need to buy cough syrup, I wouldn’t have spent a cent today.

Took a walk, sat on a bench, played decade old games, decorated the tree, and ate leftovers.

I would argue to say black Friday is dead. The deals were definitely not that great this year and there is no time crunch anymore since it’s like a whole weekend or week and nobody has money to do that anymore.

        Thank you.

I’m an oldhead so I remember the way early days.

Yes, there was a small ‘season’ that was used to churn out old tech inventory in preparation for the December frenzy. This was in the day that meaningful device updates were, by today’s standards relatively slow so it really made sense for holders of inventory to unload the stuff. Its also worth noting that at that time, electronics/tech was at it’s cyclycal low in August and early September, so nobody wanted stuff collecting dust while consumer spending slowed.

Conditions are wildly different now. Besides, it was a “genuine” thing for a few years but that’s ancient memory by this point.

In Germany there’s a “previous price” button and they’re not allowed to first raise the prices. I just got a sweater I’d been ogling for months for less than half price.

    Day before black Friday

item is $300 with a “$399” with a slash through it beside it.

It was more of a rant against Black Friday and the associated consumer culture. So, I agree with you. I don’t purchase anything.

I feel cleaner having shared the thought though! Now the day feels better somehow.

To be clear, I completely agree. I’ve been tracking the Samsung nvme prices, and… It was sobering what tactics were used to raise prices. Worst part is, it’s the same on any store. Bestbuy, microcenter, amazon newegg. All of the prices rose and fell in unison.
