Sorry no photos today, but I had to remove (almost) all my everyday carry, and very carefully climb up the driver’s side. I had to observe my weight distribution as well, not looking to break the sunroof or the windshield obviously.

I only brought one of my EDC tools, my NexTool card tool. That was enough to loosen up the antenna and unscrew it the rest of the way by hand.

That doesn’t matter when the glass is blocking access to the bolt for proper disassembly.

    What do, break glass?

Any door trim bolts won’t be going in the glass zone. Once the trim is off you’ll have some access points to try to bring window back into position.

I would try to jimmy the window up first. Stick a couple pieces of duck tape to it and give it a yank up while hitting the window up button. If that fails, you’ll probably have to remove enough of that inner panel to reach in with some dykes and nip the cable (you’re replacing it anyways). But most likely they just broke the plastic retainer and it can be pulled up.

Okay, awake and sober now LOL!

Anyways, I’m totally with you on lift it with duct tape, but hell, how do I even get the duct tape on the glass? Its totally fallen in, I might be lucky if I got a ~2-3 millimeter gap…

Wedge something between the window and the felt strip to give yourself a little more room (you don’t need much). I use those plastic pry bars, but anything that won’t scratch is fine. Then use a credit card or something stiff like that to push the tape down threw the crack and against the window. If the window has aftermarket tint, just do the outside. But if not, doing both sides works better.

I’ll have to cross that bridge another day. It’s not our vehicle anyways, it belongs to the neighbor down the road from us.

Unfortunately he’s now paralyzed from a stroke, so he doesn’t drive anymore… ☹️

These ideas are a bit out of reach, though I get ya…

Have you tried one of the cheap suction cup handles from harbor freight? Might be able to lift it high enough to grab it from the top.

How would I even grab it, even with said sort of tool?

The glass is indeed totally intact, but also totally fallen down in the door, nothing accessible to even get a suction cup onto…

Hell, where I am with it, I think the only viable option is somewhere between duct tape and wax paper, gotta figure out how to grip and pull the glass up in less than 2 millimeters of a gap…

I’m not sure how everything looks behind your door card but most of the ones I’ve popped off have some plastic as a moisture barrier (newer cars anyway), and a pretty big opening where you can touch the glass to access the window motors/etc. If you could get a suction cup on the glass through that hole, then you might be able to use it to lift upward.

The duct tape and wax paper could work too, but in that case you’d need to remove the weather strip from where the glass goes into the door to get a little more access. Then I would use a piece of wax paper and duct tape to slide as far as I could down the window, pull the wax paper off the tape through the access (behind the door card), and cross my fingers that a single strip of tape will hold while slowly pulling upward.

The accessibility hole is barely big enough to stick my dick in. I say that in jest, but not in jest either. The service hole is rather small…

Is there a long tool with a hook you can slid down from the glass opening and pull window up? Like the tools for unlocking the door through the glass seal?
