I have definitely seen it work for spock and stargate

    8HOmA1bLUCbPoAw.webp

Note: This Easter egg only seems to work on the normal DuckDuckGo, not https://noai.duckduckgo.com/

The reason it doesnt work on the no AI version of the site is that the logos are AI generated.

Are they? They seem pretty consistent in a way you do not expect from AI.

And some design considerations do seem fairly human. They seem like an artist probably created a digital illustration of the standard duck mascot, then created a digital illustration of a pop culture character, overlayed the two illustrations, and selectively removed certain layers of each illustration in order to combine the two into one cohesive character.

I am by no means an expert at spotting AI, but I do not think an AI would place the mask under the duck bill like this. That seems do me like a rather human decision. But I may just be wrong about how AI works.

I remember seeing a statement made by the CEO about it but for some reason I cant find the original statement anymore. I’ve only been able to find people talking about said statement.

Heres a link to the DDG subreddit discussing trying to replace the logos with hand made art instead: https://www.reddit.com/r/duckduckgo/comments/1poigga/request_completely_human_handdrawn_duckduckgo/

There are some others, like “Borg”

A lot of fairly obscure references here. Like, no one knows who Krang is. It would be a waste of time to talk about Krang on television. No more Krang!

      Ah, that’s nice, thank you.

I only tried Klingons, and only Martok seems to produce a klingon duck.

That is quite an obscure choice. It is surprising that out of all Klingons, they chose to just make Martok…

/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally “othering” of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That’s okay! Just don’t let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it’s free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not ‘inspire jamaharon’

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community’s expectations.

Fun will now commence.
