New House Speaker Mike Johnson may already be losing his first big clash with the hard-right lawmakers who are making the Republican majority and the nation ungovernable as time races down to yet another federal funding cut-off.
If McCarthy hadn’t tried to provide himself cover from the fascist right by throwing Biden under the (bullshit) impeachment bus, Democrats might have prevented his ouster.
Another way of looking at it is he didn’t compromise enough.
Right, because any flexibility at all would utilize all the other 49% of the house instead of the 10% trying to burn it all down.
