I know there is watch guides, but I’m still in the struggle of choosing the next Star Trek serie to watch next. I was thinking in skipping Star Trek: Enterprise.
I wouldn’t sleep on Enterprise. Sure it starts off a bit lousy, but by the end you’ll be upset that it was cancelled.
Enterprise is good, it has aged well. Don’t skip it, just skip the intro song.
Except for the first time to learn the pain.
And the mirror universe intro should never be skipped.
ITS BEEN A LOOOOONG ROAD
Sush your face, the intro is an absolute banger.
After Enterprise you an go for DIS season 1 and 2 only and then Strange New Worlds!
Add Lower Decks if you’re into cartoons.
Enterprise has by far the best production design in all of Star Trek, the starship feels real. Don’t miss that.
(Unfortunately most of the scripts are seriously bad, but don’t let that make you skip the show altogether.)
Lower Decks! Lower Decks! Lower Decks!
As much as I want to say fuck yes, they should first go back and watch those old scientists.
Or strange new worlds
I second this. It’s basically just an extra TNG-era spinoff that fits really well after Voyager.
The first season is a bit rough (though you’ve got to watch it at least once - important info for the rest of the show’s plot) but then the show starts doing its characters really well and has a sincerity to it you wouldn’t expect from its genre.
When I first heard of the idea of an adult animated Star Trek comedy, I thought it was a terrible idea, but they executed it so darn well, and it’s my second favorite series behind DS9.
What have you already watched aside from Voyager?
Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.

Obviously make sure you have watched DS9, the best Star Trek (fight me!).
Star Trek: Enterprise is not bad like the internet would lead you to believe. I say watch it, and skip around if you find you don’t like it. But if you watched all of Voyager, I think you will like all of Enterprise.
…But if you skip it… hmm. Chronologically and character-wise (other than movies) ST Picard seems like the next step. It kinda ‘picks up’ from where TNG and Voyager left off. Discovery and SNW are more standalone.
Of course I already watch Deep Space Nine, I’m following the order of Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and then Voyager.
Ah, right!
I’ll also add that Enterprise is pretty ‘standalone’ too. It’s not like how Voyager and DS9 directly continue TNG’s politics/characters; you can go back and watch it later. You can watch other series without missing much from Enterprise.
If I were you, I’d watch Picard as “scenery change” to modern, high res, serial Star Trek, while all those characters and plots are still fresh. Call it a breather after your Voyager marathon, and a farewell VOY, DS9, and TNG, as it’s basically built on Voyager and TNG lore.
Then I’d go back to classic, more episodic ST and watch Enterprise.
I dunno about movies, as I am not an expert on those (and which ones are good or not).
Watching Enterprise (currently on season 3), I’m not sure I can blame you, despite the plot getting interesting.
Each 90s series has their fair share of “I want to put Rick Berman in my trunk and [redacted]” moments, but Enterprise takes it to a bit of a disgusting level.
Like, with 7 in Voyager, you learn to tune out the unnecessary catsuit after a while and just enjoy an otherwise good character, but they take the sexualization of T’Pol’s character to such extremes that it interferes with her just being a person on the show.
I’m watching ENT because I’m a sucker for canon, but I totally don’t blame you if you skip it.
I couldn’t get through Enterprise when it was first airing, and it remains the only Trek series I haven’t watched in its entirety. Tried to get through it again with my partner a bit ago, and we switched off after that first decon chamber scene. We aren’t prudes, but it’s just so skeevy.
The early decon scenes are comparatively mild, which is saying something… don’t Google Vulcan Neuropressure; I wouldn’t wish such horrors upon my worst enemy.
@usernamefactory I did manage to watch it all the way through, but I wouldn’t watch it again. Some of it is just too relentlessly horrific and it didn’t actually become interesting until the final few episodes before they cancelled it.
Star Trek Prodigy is the sequel to Voyager.
It’s not just for kids, although intended for a family audience.
I also enjoyed Prodigy, although I will warn the first half of season one is a little difficult to get through, but the rest of the series welds you to your seat!
Strange New Worlds is great! Since you’ve already seen DS9 and TNG that’d be my next pick for most enjoyment.
Discovery and Lower Decks are good too! But Picard doesn’t get my recommendation.
Watch order isn’t important. There’s a little crossover between Discovery and Strange New Worlds, but you there are only two details from Disco that carry into SNW, and those are recapped thoroughly in SNW.
There is a little interaction between SNW and Lower Decks
SNW / Lower Decks
There’s a great crossover episode in SNW season 2. It’s worth getting to know the Lower Decks characters first to get the most out of that episode.
There are three TOS episodes that are especially relevant to SNW from what I recall. The one I recommend watching is Balance of Terror.
SNW / TOS
SNW has lots of references to Pike’s “fate”, which you see in the TOS episode Glass Menagerie. It’s optional IMO. Btw Glass Menagerie includes a recut / retelling of the unaired pilot, which is my favorite episode of TOS. But the pilot doesn’t have the beep chair.
Season 1 has an homage to the TOS episode Balance of Terror. It will make more sense if you’ve seen that episode. And it’s one of the best TOS episodes.
Season 3 has an appearance from a character who first appeared in the TOS episode The Squire of Gothos. It might add some context. Also optional IMO.
Voyager again!!!
