That goes double in an environment of corporatism, where antitrust law is hardly ever enforced and extreme differences in bargaining power between businesses and individuals are the norm.

Probably in online ordering. There are companies that have used your zip code to raise prices, and it’s been rumored that individualized prices that go into your known profile to raise them have existed.
Sounds like a good idea but this seems to be mostly focusing on problems of the future. Maybe preventing new ways to rob customers but not really doing anything for current practices.
There are already stores trying to pin prices on retail items according to what they think the customer will buy. This isn’t widespread in use yet, but it’s not the distant future. It’s right now.
It’s not really good news though, is it? The majority won’t even bring it to a vote and it’ll die in committee. Republicans (most, but not all) are a cancer in Congress and we need some serious white blood cells.
Depends on how you sell it maybe. Tell people they want to use personal data that include networth or income to dictate food prices and you might get Republican support

I don’t know the specifics of her bill but if it it involves price fixing, history has shown that only leads to shortages.
They should also pass a bill to exempt imported food and food manufacturers from tariffs. It’s one thing to say we need to incur higher prices to encourage American investment but leave the fucking food supply out of it.
The US also needs to fix its corn subsidy problem. So many farmers grow exclusively corn because the subsidies just make it impossible not to, and most of that just gets turned into ethanol.
If the government were to cut off corn subsidies, or just start subsidizing better food options, a lot of the food scarcity and price problems faced by Americans could be solved.
But that would make gas more expensive, so obviously that takes priority…

I mean, ethanol for fuel isn’t great, and it represents most of the new corn consumption over the last 20 years, but an enormous amount of US corn goes to pigs and cattle.
Too late, I’m shopping at Aldi forever. I’m happy for the people who don’t have an Aldi near them, though.
Go ahead and just set prices for all goods and services, then shift manufacturing to what you expect we’ll need for the next 5 years.
