At that moment in 1985, two Delorean time machines existed: the one that Marty used to return 1985, and the one that he’s watching in the mall parking lot.
Technically, it’s the same time machine I think?

There are 2 time machines. The DeLorean, which gets modified to run on fusion instead of plutonium, and the time train at the very end of BttF 3.
