Well, my startrek.website account made The List, but if the admin doesn’t care to put a stop to it I guess imma delete that shit and start using the other ST communities.
i got banned from there for saying that discovery is not star trek. it is a clown show ran by a bunch of kids on a power trip and people should stop giving them power by using them.
this is how i see it. do you know how when the orville came out, everyone was “hey, new star trek!”?
now imagine discovery gets the same treatment as orville. you change the names, united federation of planets become interstellar union, warp drive becomes super-duper-engine, you change the shape of the ships little bit.
how many people would look at that and say “hey, new star trek!”? i think not that many. it would be c-grade show on netflix no one would give a fuck about and wouldn’t be picked up for second season.
it is one thing if you do some minor stuff that may not be completely in line with the canon, and it is another if you are parasite who just hijacks the name of the franchise. and that’s what discovery and abram’s movies are.
Honestly, even TOS did that to itself. Vulcans were originally Vulcanians, James T. Kirk was originally James R. Kirk, USS stood for something else, etc.
While I may lament the fragmenting of the fandom, this is kind of the point of the fediverse. If some Adkins are shit, jump ship and join a less shit instance.

And also Star Trek.
Whether or not you think it’s GOOD Star Trek doesn’t determine if it is or isn’t part of the canon 🤷🏻

Ok, fair enough. That actually makes me inclined to agree.
The fact that it breaks so much established canon determines if it is or isn’t part of the canon.
Not necessarily, no.
You’d probably be hard pressed to find any iteration except TOS that DOESN’T do that one way or the other 🤷🏻
May as well just consider each series to be its own universe
Por que no los dos?

Riberius, named after his blackcurrant magnate ancestors
Eh, you can find someone to say that about any trek iteration, lets go get you some fruit
I know I’m not missing much, I’ll still see their reposts from here anyway.
