Like, who makes a movie like that and the most we hear about Japan was a dark joke about how the title character “Thought he was making a rice cooker”… ugh…
If a bit over a year is a “long time” then I’m a lot older than you lol.
It is what James Woods is most known for
uh, whhhat? that is certainly not true. I’ve known of him for like 20 years as a (shitty) actor and had no clue he was involved with Oppenheimer whatsoever, despite seeing that movie in the theater. From IMBD:
In some ways, the executive producer isn’t super involved anyhow. My understanding is that they just drum up money and try to persuade suits that a picture should be made. I’m sure he got paid 100 times his worth though…
I doubt any of those movies are currently more known than Oppenheimer. The listed movies have James Woods participating as an actor. Whereas with Oppenheimer, James was bankrolling it. Executive producers can have more influence than producers. It depends whether they decide to be hands-on or only see the movie as an investment.
You can see right there in the IMDB screenshot they use the same language you did (“known for”). I think IMDB has their finger on the pulse of how people talk about entertainment. Many people in the movie industry are most known for things from years ago but still work frequently. Like would you say Christopher Lloyd is most known for whatever semi-popular thing from the last couple of years he had a role in, or Back to the Future?
You are right that EP’s vary in involvement, but even if I had known he was EP in that film, I still would’ve had the same question I originally asked.
Oppenheimer has been out for a long time. It is what James Woods is most known for. Boycotting will not have much effect anymore. Maybe his next work.
And Matt Damon is best known for Thor: Love and Thunder?
Sean Connery, best known for the animated film Sir Billi
Michael J. Fox, best known for the 2023 movie “Still”
Jaleel White best known for the game show “Flip Side”
I can do this all day.
Oppenheimer is not what James Woods is most known for… lol.

No really, this happens in the movie.
Non-sequitur.

The only of these I’ve even heard of is the Hercules film.
I am guessing you’re younger than me :)
The Virgin Suicides, for example, was pretty popular and well known to me and my circle.

Oppenheimer may be well known, but I don’t know if anybody had any idea it was produced by James Woods. He’s not known for that movie by any stretch.
Videodrome is a classic.
Yeah, great film.
But fuck James Woods.
Nah Hercules is a classic!

Anybody who thinks Christopher Loyd’s legacy is from The Mandelorian needs an iPadless TimeOut.
He was involved with that?
Yeah, Season 3 had a cameo.
