Alright, alright, Russian here, let’s negotiate. I’m generally in favor of Ukraine taking Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia off our hands. You couldn’t take Kaliningrad even over my dead body, but we can offer a nuclear wasteland Novaya Zemlya instead (but we’ll keep nuking the shit out of it), and Sakhalin, too, just to fuck with Japan even more.

    Deal?

And what about Belarus? And Transnistria?

We need to balkanize Russia, and turn Moscow into an irradiated wasteland for good measure. Russian “culture” must be eradicated, as it is explicitly harmful to all others.

Russian population never experienced the age of Enlightenment. For centuries they were serfs to the Czar, then suddenly they were serfs to the Communist party.

After the Soviet Union fell, they had about a decade of semi-freedom, during which the oligarchs rose and consolidated their power - resulting in the reign of Putin, the Weasel of the East.

The Russian people have been subservient for generations, so much that has become ingrained in their culture. “We can withstand more suffering more than any other nation” is something they are actually proud of. Now there’s nothing wrong being resillient, but unnecessary suffering just so that the elite can live in extreme opulence is not acceptable.

The Russian culture allows shitty governing, since majority of the people do not think it is possible or even reasonable to try to change things. They have never had the opportunity to “mature” as a people, and this has served the corrupt leaders well. And for the last 25 years Kremlin has slowly but steadily tightened the leash so that the young generation won’t get any ideas of democracy and freedom. And a large part of the older people renember the Soviet era as the “good old days”.

It will a long road for their people to walk before they have a free and effective civil society.

EDIT: Sent before it was finished.

You could have written something very similar about the USA, just that their oligarchy started a few centuries earlier.

Yeah, you don’t need to write a big longnwinded racist comment about Russian people. I have a few Russian friends. They are nothing like what you describe.

No racism was intended. Perhaps I expressed myself poorly.

I do not consider the Russian people be any dumber or inferior than any other nation. I meant that their civil society has not had the opportunity to grow and develop into a strong democracy like many European countries.

I too have many Russian friends and most of what I wrote I have learned from discussions with them. And more than a half of my father’s ancestors are Russian.

Disagree. Russian culture is based heavily upon many things that are counterproductive and harmful to others. For example, corruption is not merely an aspect of the government, but the culture of Russia. Corruption is evident in every aspect of their society, it is practically expected that your boss steals from the company, and that you steal from your boss, it is why there are stories from before the Ukraine war of people walking into military supply depots and buying military weapons off of the soldiers there. Alongside that is a culture that promotes abuse, that celebrates poverty and stealing from others to get by, it is partly why the domestic abuse rate is so high and why Russian soldiers stole Toilets during the opening of the war. Then you also have the part of Russian culture which insists upon dominating all other cultures around them, as they have done for a thousand years, suppressing the natives and trying to eradicate their cultures, and insisting that Anything that is opposed to this is evil, or “Nazi” as they now use these days. That’s not even getting into issues like the mass raping of children that we saw in the opening of the war, and the fact the soldiers would film it to share with friends and family, who would collectively Laugh at the horrific crimes being done. When citizens are asked about these crimes, their response is always the same; “It didn’t happen, but also they deserved it.”

This is not simply an issue of a horrible government, it is an issue of a culture that promotes Evil and claims it to be good purely because it is Russians doing it. Even their religion is just another arm of this, promoting their evil ways. Also, even if it was simply due to a “shit government” it seems odd that Every Russian government in their history has been mired in horrific things, every single ruler, every regime, there is not one point in time where you can say that the government wasn’t shit.

In the words of George Orwell: “A people who elect criminals are not victims, but accomplices.”

Learn Russian history, learn about the culture, then learn about the horrific things they have done in not only the Ukraine war, but Every war they’ve ever been involved in. Then, come back to me.
