Bro I’ve been looking EVERYWHERE to see if Trump has been seen today. Best I came up with was a zoomed in picture of his face at the golf course. It has so many pixels it barely resembles him and his face is swollen as hell and his nose doesn’t even look normal.

Please Jesus let this be the weekend we get some good news !!!

Wishing Mr. Vance a speedy transition to power. Preferably like, tonight.

Wishing for the rest of the world he has a speedy transition right back out of power. Preferably like, very slightly later, also tonight.

Evil people always last longer than you think. I’m not sure whether Trump is actually evil or the evil is a byproduct of extreme narcissism combined with staggering stupidity.

I heard a theory the other day that the thing that makes Trump Trump is that he speaks on a fourth grade level because he’s just that dumb. He politically engages people who are too ignorant and disinterested in politics to do more than check Trump’s name and ignore other Republican candidates. I saw it here in my own state where was something like an 800k vote discrepancy between Trump and conservative Supreme Court candidates. It’s why districts that Trump won by double digits flip hard for Dems in special election’s and non-presidential elections.

What that means is, when Trump dies, the Republican Party is pretty much fucked if they haven’t achieved full on fascism by then. I’m not smart enough to know whether that theory is correct, but I really want it to be.

Man. I know you are joking. But you are also saying the quiet part out loud that a lot of us are thinking.

Who would notice if a few compatible with Trump immigrants disappeared at the border? Would you believe their friends? Or would you just assume the cartels got to them?

That’s always my fear as a minority in the USA post 9/11. Due process seems somewhat gone now too. They could send me to Uganda and people around me (friends and neighbors) would probably assume I did something to deserve it or… not even notice.

Considering his connections to Peter Thiel I’m not so sure about that. But what matters is that he won’t be able to wield the cult of personality that has formed around Trump the way Trump can.

JD is scary due to the thiel connection.

He’s very unlikable though imo. He doesn’t have the charisma trump has (not genuine charisma, but like an arrogant bullying charisma that MAGA is attracted to). Hopefully this alone would work against him.

To be fair, though, Trump is deeply unlikable for many people. I’ve had almost a physical reaction to hearing him speak or seeing him since his debates against Hillary. He’s always seemed gross and slimy to me.

In other words, just because you and I see JD as unlikable doesn’t mean that MAGA will also find him unlikable. In fact, Vance’s approval rating among republicans is 89% favorable while among democrats it is 3% favorable as of the beginning of August.

This, this, this! Trump attracts people in a unique way, the same way that Hitler attracted people. Vance doesn’t have that charisma. His ascension would fracture the party. There’s folks who are willing to buck him, not Trump. It is the best shot we have at normalcy.

I hope you are right, but I don’t know MAGA won’t latch onto a new cult of personality just as easily. The right wing info bubble is a well oiled consent machine and they know how to push the right cultural buttons. Vance is better spoken and has gained a lot of MAGA love under Trump. I worry if Trump dies before he erodes his support too far, it will solidify MAGA under a better equipped leader.

People keep saying MAGA falls apart when Trump dies, but what I’m not seeing is what people think all these supporters will do? Surely we’re not thinking they’ll suddenly deconvert until reasonable people or even what used to be Republicans.

If we’re really honest, this is what the Republican party has been building up to for decades. I’m trying to see the optimism that they’ll just go back in the box but I’m just not seeing it

I’m not optimistic about them “going back in the box” as it were but that fracture into competing factions will allow more reasonable leaders to get it. Kinda how Bernie was winning before moderates unified behind Biden but sorta in reverse.

Trump won the R primary in 2016 and 2024 because the others didn’t unify.

I don’t think they’ll deconvert. I do hope they will become apathetic without their “charismatic” leader. I don’t think Vance will be able to hold people’s attention as well or rile them up to the same degree.

Whole lotta lazy low-info dumbasses voted for Taco because he had that game show, too. People more aware knew who and what Taco was since at least the 80s, but the low-info? Not so much. They really do think that the broke-ass, self-promoting dumbfuck failson was a bigly important businessman instead of the low-life fraud who was thirsty to be accepted by the Manhattan elite his entire grifting life. Of course this same exact kind of lazy thinking leads to them thinking a businessman would be good to lead a democratic country, and I don’t know which makes me want to face-palm harder…

Not sure if there are any cons in the running that had that kind of boost from the “liberal media” where a failed “businessman” was given a game show to host and launch into the national spotlight…

JD and his wife were groomed to be the Republican version of the Clinton’s…

They were literally set up by the “Tiger Mom” who’s an ivy league law professor, then the wife was given SC clerkships.

They don’t care about his beliefs or actions. All that matters is their own fear, anger, and hate. That’s all this has really been about. Not ideals, not standards, and certainly not reality.
