    If a liberal does the right things for the right reasons, are they still a liberal?

      Doing the right thing for the right reason is the definition of being a liberal.

        That is literally not the definition of liberal though. Liberalism is a political ethos based on a number of tenets surrounding individual rights, private ownership of property and capital, governing consent via democracy, and an equal application of the law. There is plenty of room for those things to go very awry, and become what most would consider the wrong thing, for the wrong reason.
